Earlier this week I read in the local paper about a local auction claiming to be "Our 10th annual New Years spectacular". The newspaper listing just listed furniture, glassware etc. No pictures were posted on the web. So, today I donned my lucky hat and went to see what might surface..... Boy, was I surprised when I saw this sitting on a table.
When the auctioneer got to the table with the cone top can, the presenter picked up this group of "tins" and the bidding started at $5.00,
Two other bidders were sort of interested, but quickly dropped out.
When I compared the new one with the one on my shelf, I noticed a bit of difference,
It seems the canning code is not on the new one and the border area where the mandatory looks like a different shade...Has anyone else seen this variation?

Re: First Pick for 2016
Yea that shade around the mandatory is darker....now is just my eyes going buggy or do I see a faint canning code? If it were a darker coat it may have obscured it.
OCC .... I think the difference you see is the tarnish.

Re: First Pick for 2016
Good eye Ivan, I took the can out into the daylight, used the magnifier and can see it now... I suspect a classic case of "day shift-night shift" on the printing line.. Oh well, good trader...

Re: First Pick for 2016
Ahh darn....my suspicions were right ....a new variation would have been nice. One thing that peaks my curiosity though....why are those mandatory area's a different shade? did they used to say something different?....or is just from the process of how they were painted?
