Dumped a unusual Canadian SS sized can

#1

Post by Tinman »

I was over digging around at the local dump yesterday, rolled over a bed spring on the back side of the seventies section and revealed a bunch of cans in decent shape.

Among them was this Welchade can.

After a quick cleaning,

Around the bottom it reads " Packed By Cadbury, Schweppes, Powell Ltd, Montreal, St Catherines, Canada"

My question is, would this be considered a Soda Can or a Juice tin?

If it's carbonated it's soda...if not it's a juice....in this case it's a juice! and wicked size too! nice find Dave :smt023

Many years ago, my next door neighbor was president of Welch's and I worked there for 2 summers. This is clearly a juice can as there were similar ones produced in the states. All of the Welch plants were in the states and the processed exclusively purple Concord grapes. This had to be done through some sort of licensing agreement.

Nice cans, brings back memories of my childhood.

I grew up on Welchade, absolutely loved anything Welch's. I just had to have this air-sealed example from '68, funny how a can sparks fond memories of sitting around the table with my bro and sis sporting a giant purple moustache, good times. Bjorn
