#1

Post by kamsquared »

Are you ready for some racing?!?!?! The rules are the same as last year......

Here are your OFFICIAL 2019 NASCAR MONSTER ENERGY RUSTY BUNCH PICK a WINNER RULES:

TOP 3 LOWEST SCORING PAW PLAYERS!!!
- Rusty Bunch Members Only
- THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE!! Anyone can enter at any time!
- Each week, pick the DRIVER who you think will win that weeks race.
- Remember!! You are picking the DRIVER...not the car number!!!
- You can only pick a DRIVER once for the first 26 races (Don't pick Kyle Busch every week!!)
- If you pick the DRIVER twice in the first 26 races, you will be accessed a 53 point penalty.
- The last 10 races (the Chase) you can pick a DRIVER again, but only once. If you pick a driver twice in the Chase you will be accessed a 53 point penalty.
- If you "Pick The Winner" you get 0 points.
- Your DRIVER's finishing position will be added to your total, the 3 LOWEST totals at the end of the year will win a prize (see the prize thread).
- If you miss a week, you get 43 points.
- Entries must be in BEFORE the green flag flies at the start of race.
- If you want to pick early for any race during the season because you will be out of town or for whatever reason, just PM KAMSQUARED with your picks.
- Heck, if you want to pick a driver for all 36 races before the season even starts......go for it!!! In fact, you'll probably win!!!

BIGGEST LOSER!!!
We also have an added a prize for the BIGGEST LOSER!!
- Players must adhere to all of the rules listed above.
- The biggest loser is the player who participates in all 36 race selections and ends up with a DRIVER average closest to a 20th place finish, without going over.
- CLARIFICATION: THE BIGGEST LOSER IS THE PLAYER WHO GETS CLOSEST TO 720 POINTS TOTAL FOR THE YEAR, WITHOUT GOING OVER!!
- You have to select a driver in all 36 races.
- You have to adhere to the rules of not picking a driver twice in the first 26 races or in the last 10 races.

IN CASE OF A TIE FOR POSITION AT THE END OF THE SEASON
***Added clarification on 11/13/2019***
In case of a tie in points between positions, the tie will be settled by most/least wins, then most/least top 5s, then most/least top 10s, and finally, most/least top 20s.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Do I understand correctly that if a car fails inspection after the race the car is disqualified and everyone moves up a position in the final results? If so, how does this impact our standings?
Wanted cone top soda cans and pre-barcode root beer cans, Pittsburgh Steelers beer or soda cans, Duquesne and Blatz advertising pieces.

They just changed that rule 2 weeks ago and I hadn't given it much thought...... I would like to propose to keep the rules as we have them and NOT adjust the finishing order based on post race inspection disqualification. There is an appeals process for these disqualifications and I really don't want to have to keep readjusting the finishing order (I'm lazy).

What do the RB PaW participants think? Finishing order is finishing order OR do we readjust based on who gets disqualified?

Thanks

I vote for "Finishing order is finishing order". There is no point in over complicating this. Let's just have fun.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

What if you don't pick a driver in the first 26 weeks can you pick him twice in the last 10? I would think so but just wanted to check.

If there was sufficient support for this rule change, we would not be able to implement it until the 2020 season.

The rule currently is no double picks in the last 10 weeks..... So regardless if you hadn’t pick them in the first 26 weeks a double pick is a double pick.
We can discuss changing for next year but I wouldn’t want to change the rule mid-season.

I wasn't going to try anything like that but just in case someone else does, we have it documented what the commissioner and vice-commissioner have to say about it,

yThis is the 3rd year I am in this NASCAR league . Commish, did you just make up the rules or is it based on some kind of standard? Just curious. And thanks for the hassle of maintaining the stats.

I've been in a couple of NASCAR pools over the years so the rules here are kind of adaptions of those other pools.......they have been evolving as situations arise that we didn't think of.

The craziest one I was in.........
We actually picked a team of 4 drivers and totaled up the points for all 4 drivers. Each team was unique so you couldn't pick the same driver as another player. We would get into a chat room the morning of the race, draw player names out of a hat, and then pick in order of the random draw.....1-2-3-4-5-6-7-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, etc until everyone had 4 drivers (we usually had 7 guys playing). So your team would consist of everyone from Kyle Busch to Landon Cassill.
We also had bonus points for leading a lap, leading the most laps, top 5 finish, winner bonus, etc.
The top 3 guys with the lowest team points were paid $1 for ever point from all of the other players (I don't remember the actual split %). We settled up after the end of the season!!
It was actually kind of scary the amount of money you could potentially lose (or win) every week. I was in that pool for about 7 seasons and came out about even. One year I lost about $1300......it was very stressful.......

I have participated in this contest for quite a few years. All drivers are picked prior to the Daytona 500 and locked for the entire season. I am currently in first place out of 80+ entries. $20 entry fee per season.

So, Bushler is disqualified for cheating but he gets a #2 finish here? I don't know how that makes any sense? I guess it doesn't affect much but it could down the road.....Just sayin'

Yikes!! I guess we voted last year that “finishing order is finishing order” regardless of penalties!
Thanks Claude, I need to put that into the rules up tøp.

My thinking on that previously was that the driver can be accused of cheating, be relegated to the last position, appeal the penalty, and be reinstated to their original position.

I really didn’t want to have to track all of that BS. Which is why I proposed FOFO…Finishing Order is Finishing Order.

And then I forgot to put that into the rules at the tøp of the page.
