If you plan on attending the 48th BCCA Canvention in Omaha you better get your room reservations in quickly. We discussed it briefly at the BCCA meeting today and rooms are quickly filling up. Rooms are expected to be gone in the next few weeks but that doesn't mean to put it off. I booked mine today and I recommend you call to book your room
Hilton 1001 Cass Street I Omaha, NE I 68102 Phone # 402-998-3400
Also make sure to give them the code CAN. Cost of the rooms is $129 at the Canvention rate not including tax.

Don't forget to log onto the BCCA and vote for your choice for the BCCA HOF and the Cans of the Year.

Also from the meeting:
- Canvention tables are $25 for 6' tables
- Registration cost $45 and goes to $60 beginning on 10 Aug and closes on 24 Aug
- There is no such thing as a "Walk-in this year. A one day membership will be issued.
- Albuquerque for 2019 has been confirm with the dates of 26-31 Aug 2019
- Cost for hotels in Alb will be $129 at the Hyatt Downtown

The updating to the USBC Supplementals continues in earnest. Jim Wolf will be providing a "Wanted List" which I will posted in another thread when received.

Do you know the cost for a one day membership?

Also another key note that the address in the BCCA magazine to ship items to is incorrect. It should read 6271 S 118th St, Omaha, NE 68137
NOT 68317........

Note on the one day membership - that gets you in the door on Saturday and allows you to buy, not sell cans. It is required because of some funky local regulations.

I was wondering why non-members needed to pay to get in on Saturday. On the one hand, I can see keeping it free because it might draw in new collectors (a spontaneous visit to the Canvention in Fort Wayne played a part in my return to the hobby). On the other hand, many local chapters charge admission to walk-ins for their shows so why should Canvention be any different?

I've got my reservations in. The lady I spoke to on the phone was very helpful and the whole process took just a few minutes. Hope to see a lot of y'all there!

Hope this is on topic enough: I was wondering one thing- if we could get a second day of that Omaha brewery history tour going for Wednesday. That really sounded interesting, but they're doing it Tuesday, when I'll be on the road up to Omaha.

@Dixie Dave Dave....that is a fair enough question. I'll ask for the realm of possibilities.

As BCCA President Charlie Smith noted on Facebook....the hotel blocked rooms for Canvention are running out quickly and could be gone by 1 July.....doubtful they will be able to get anymore rooms....

Remember...if you think you are going...book a room and need to back out...let Beer Dave beerdave@fuse.net prior to contacting the hotel...Beer Dave will work to get the room filled with another BCCA member rather than lose it to the hotel......

I just called the Hilton and the rooms at the $129 rate are gone. :-x $164 is now the cheapest and it's a King. Doubles are $185.

Beer Dave is working with both Joe and Chris....is there anybody out there with similar issues (i.e. booked at the high rate, or didn't book because of the cost)? Beer Dave will work with getting additional rooms added but once that happens....don't fail to book as quickly as possible.... not sure how many rooms are left to add....

As of today, ALL the standard rooms are filled. Deluxe is all that's left.

Going to miss all the fun but I REFUSE to pay that cost for a room!!!! I can have just as much fun at the smaller shows for very little $'s
Call me cheap but room prices are getting out of hand for this event and sure won't find any young collectors going.

Just spoke we Beer Dave...He has reached out to the hotel but it will take a few days before they can determine if they can book additional rooms...In the meantime DO NOT DO NOT book through Expedia or any other hotel site....you will maybe get a room but will not be in the same area as the rest of the BCCA members....if you're wondering why you might be on the 12th floor all the airline pilots when all the BCCA folks are on the 3rd - 8th floor.....there you have it.... @DaveNH

It pays to book early. I wonder if this same problem will occur for the Great Lakes show on October 12-14? Book now. You can always cancel later if something unexpected suddenly comes up.

Yeah I plan on going since I can drive there but I will wing it and book something closer to the dates that I can uber/cab from. I have never been to a Canvention so maybe I am missing out not staying at the hotel but not even sure what days I can go yet. The reduced rate isn't that bad since I am sure it is a nice hotel but $160+ is too much for multiple nights.

I booked my room this morning and was quoted a price of $129 per night. Maybe the hotel was able to get more rooms. I look forward to seeing everybody there! My usual roomy is Curious George, but he doesn't know yet if he's coming, soooooo, if anybody needs a room, I'm happy to share it with another collector. Contact me and let me know if you're interested.

Indications from Beer Dave is that a few more rooms have been added. He didn't have a total number.......

What hotels in Manhattan (that you would want to stay in) are under $200 a night these days? Heck, under $300 a night?

I just booked a family vacation in August and any decent NYC hotel starts in the high $200 range.

BTW, I the Texas group i am part of made our Canvention reservations a few months ago.

@eric Here is what I just got back from @Uncle Jackson Jerry Cole

"Jim (Wolf) is finalizing it. He is updating it for a few more that have come from the last few shows.

Surprisingly, most of the cans are uncommon variations of various common brands such as Schlitz.

More next week."
