That is a pretty sweet can, but I think maybe just not quite minty enough to get the guys that pay the big bucks for the super clean cans bidding.
Humidity spotted scratched ones were getting about $500 over 10 + years ago in here & elsewhere. Example below. Prices haven't gone up on these in 10+ years?

Well, you brought up the $4,000 Goebel Bock discussion again. In that discussion, you said yourself that some cans sell for double what they sold for ten years ago, and others sell for half what they did ten years ago. Many haven't changed much in ten years also. The market is what the market does, and arguing with it is futile.

As for red Miller OI's, they're real hot right now for whatever reason. I looked at eBay's sold items today, and the prices shocked me. The cans selling for $20 to $40 are cans you see at shows for $5. Grade 2 cans sell for hundreds? If this can is worth $250, the $800 can you keep complaining about was a bargain.

Yes, I did say that. I remember 20 years ago when a tough Alpine was $300 & so was the Black Frankenmuth Bock. Then the Black Frankenmuth shot up to $1,500 & now average $800-1,200. While the same Alpine has always stayed at around $300 past 20 years? Can't explain it. The German Eagle Goebel has done similar to the Black Frankenmuth bock. I been following the Red Millers for years. have no idea how they got so Hot recently? LEON.

Well, we know Michigan cans in general have dropped in value because several key specialists got out. As for Miller, the same seems to be happening with other national and large regional brands. I've seen some very surprising results on Coors and Hamm's OI's the past couple years, and Budweiser and Pabst continue to surprise me. I guess people like brands that are still around, or brands they remember from their youth.

I would think the Blatz would fit into the national or regional brands like Coors, Hamms, Budweiser, Pabst & Miller. What about Schlitz? I guess some people just don't like the ugly plain dull 2 colors on the Olive Drabs. I remember Bob McCoy telling me about 25 years ago he didn't really like or care for his Olive Drabs but only had them because they came with a Collection he bought. I like the Olive Drabs even if ugly. LEON.

The mind-boggling results on common Blatz LP cones have been brought up here a couple times.

I considered excluding the OD cans from the rebuilt J-Spout collection because they're ugly and because I haven't seen any evidence that they were ever filled with beer. I picked up a cheap Iroquois a couple years ago, but still don't have the Blatz. The only real reason to collect them, for me, is that there are 102 confirmed J-Spouts and I can't get to 100 without them unless I somehow get a blue Hudepohl. The only other tough one I need is the 3.2% to 7% Bruck's Jubilee. The others I don't have are Blatz, Topaz and the Kuebler Ale oval can with union label. I've passed on multiples of all three of those due to price, condition or both.

The only other OD can I'd shelf at this point is the Propeller can. I had one of those years ago, and I should have kept it and chased the other Propeller variations. OD cans are cool and interesting because of the reason they exist, but most of them aren't much to look at.

But, if you collect other j-spouts like Sea Marker ect, ect, that didn't hold beer you gotta collect these. No j-spout collection could be complete with out them. I actually like OD cans that look nothing like there non OD counterpart & the Blatz is one of them, along with Cincinnati Burger Brau ect. LEON.

I hadn't thought about it from that angle, but getting to 100 (beer) is more compelling anyhow. I had 99 about 12 years ago, though that included three different colored Iroquois.

For those of you following the discussion on battleship grey cans, the Sea Marker can is the grey one, LOL.

I'm missing two non-beers that I know of, the OD Kitchen Bouquet that was dumped in Europe and this one.

By request, this can was drank on VJ day 1945 by Sailor named Robert Leo Walton 8 day out of the Panama Canal off the coast of Manilla. All written down in a letter from the widow that came with the can.

That high pro is a beauty, thanks for posting. I either didn't know or forgot the OD jspouts were likely never filled, that would explain why they are not in such high demand, it takes them off my list.

I should have worded that differently. I have no idea whether the OD J-Spouts were filled with beer or not, but every one I've seen had at least traces of glue or black shoe polish except one Iroquois. That can never got the OD paint job, and looked like it had been used as a food can of some sort. The bottom was very thin and nearly flat, and the top was cut out.

Marc, they also made a Wagner Lockheed J-Spout with concaved bottom & flat (soup can type) bottom. I dumped on with a concaved bottom & figured it had to be a paintover, rubbed a small spot on back but nothing under it. Dud. I may still have it & the flat bottom somewhere, If I ever find them you can have them. If you don't allready have them. LEON.

When this discussion came up in here before another guy (Wisconsin collector in here) said he was not aware of these not being filled with Beer. I told him no proof they were never filled with beer, just that all the ones I seen were shoe polish at one time, I think I seen a old black & white military pic with the soldiers drinking Blatz OD j-spouts but can't remember where? if a photo like that exist then they were filled. I think they were filled but had a large leftover stock after the war. which then got sold to the shoe polish company & reused by slapping that paper label over it. I've seen that done with another can, a low pro cone with a car polish & then you got my low pro filled with Pritchard Fish & a Fish label over it. LEON.

If you scroll all the way to left in picture you'll see someone holding one upright, sure looks like a j-spout. plus the one guy holding 3 or 4 in his hands I cropped & resized & turned the pic upright since it was sideways. Look like j-spouts. I would guess this proves the j-spout OD Blatz cones were filled. LEON.

Huh, I recall seeing photos of soldiers drinking OD Blatz flattops, but not cones. Interestingly, they look like LP cones, but that could just be due to quality of the photo. They're definitely not the HP cones, so they probably are J-Spouts.

if the J-Spout was produced at the end of the war, that would explain why so many have been re-purposed into polish cans etc.... because only a small amount would have been used before the war ended.

I'd assume they made the j-spouts first & then the HP's. Seems like the Hi Pro's would of replaced the older outdated j-spouts. If so then seems like there would be left over Hi Pro's made into shoe polish. If they did replace the j spout with Hi Pro's then maybe they just stopped filling & using the j-spout while the stock sat unused while they kept making & using the Hi Pro. They were both used for such a short time makes you wonder why they even produced 2 different cone type OD's? LEON.

It looks like both were made very late in the war, so it is odd that two different can companies made the same label at apparently same time. Then there's the flattop also. I believe one of those exists in a collection - do we know which can company it was by?

Continental Can Co. could have had leftover can stock when the war ended too, but who knows what they would have done with it?
