Motherload of OIs....

#1

Post by Rand »

....will be finally auctioned off tomorrow morning! (9 PST, noon eastern)

Tons of inexpensive rare rust on there right now....so if you can't do the Atlas Yorkshire, Class or Salute etc.....there's plenty of stuff in all price ranges!

Rand, how does live bidding work? I thought I read somewhere that there wasn't going to be live bidding.

Is there a room somewhere with bidders? Or is there a final lot-by-lot auction moment that includes online bids? Or does everything end at 12?

I just want to be sure I'm in my seat in time.

The way I understand it is....there is no "physical"/in-person type of bidding.....but there is going to be a "live auction" online......where I think Dan is going to kinda virtually gavel things in...and out....in real time. So, if you have a bid in now.....it's good for the "live auction".....but someone live can kinda keep bidding on it until they pass your max bid. I think all the pre-bidding happening now is shut down at 11:30am eastern.....and he then re-opens it at noon for the "live auction" online thing.

Let me see if I can find a more "authoritative" statement on all this.

Did find this Bill:

Online bidding at MoreanAuctions.com
Bid live in any Morean Auction from the comfort of your own home!

Before the auction
If this is your first time bidding through the Morean Auctions website, you first will need to create an account. Please note: your account must be approved before you can start bidding. We suggest completing this step well in advance of the auction.

We will email you with a confirmation for live bidding once your request has been approved.

Each auction is a unique event. If you have participated with Morean Auctions in the past, you may use the same username and password to bid online for current and future online bidding only auctions. For auctions with simultaneous live floor bidding, you will need to re-register to receive a paddle number.

During the auction
Click the “Auctions” link at top or click here to see the auction taking place live.

Click the “log in” button to enable bidding. If you have not yet registered to live bid in the auction, you’ll be prompted to do so.

Have fun!

I have seen some of your cans on ebay too. The ebay auction states the can is part of a live auction. I bid $100 on a can about a week ago. When I look at the ebay auction, it says "Your bid $100 US" and offers to let me increase my bid. When I look at Dan's site, I can see I have been outbid but nothing on the ebay auction suggests I have been outbid. For me, none of this really matters because I cannot afford this can but the disconnect between the two sites may cause confusion for other people. Just to be safe, I would suggest people go to Dan's site.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

2023 Shows Attended

* Michigan Chapter Winterfest, January 14, Frankenmuth Michigan
* Cabin Fever Reliever, February 24, Mishawaka Indiana
* Buckeye, March 11, Toledo Ohio
* SummerSwap, July 21 & 22, Frankenmuth Michigan

=================================================================================

Hello Rand,

Thank you for registering to bid with Morean Auctions. The Rand Lindsly rare instructional can and breweriana collection goes into live bidding tomorrow at noon and will end tomorrow. We hope you are enjoying all these rare cans in one place!

Here is some info which answers the frequently asked questions we receive.

Max Bids:

You may bid now or any time up to 11:30 am EST Saturday, July 28 before the live bidding begins. You can enter a max bid and the system will automatically bid for you to win an item for the minimum bid (ie next increment above the 2d highest bidder) just like on ebay. For example, an item is at $100 and that bidder an all other bidding on that lot is done. You enter a bid of $1,000. You would win the lot for $110.

ebayLive vs. Invaluable vs. MoreanAuctions.com:

Bidding is available any time on Invaluable and MoreanAuctions.com. Bidding will be available on ebayLive only during the Live portion of the auction beginning noon EST July 28. NOTE that ebayLive and Invaluable buyer’s premium is 20%. The buyer’s premium on MoreanAuctions.con is only 15%, discounted to 12% if payment is by check or money order. We have had very positive feedback about the bidding on MoreanAuctions.com…it’s your best bet.

“Live” bidding:

Because the auction is on multiple platforms, it will go into “live” mode at noon EST Saturday, July 28. This is when we manually coordinate the bids between the various platforms. To enter live bidding, login and click on the “View Live Auction” button toward the top right of the page or on the text link above the lot number/description. You will see additional features on the lot details page. You’ll see bids come in and the current top bid. You’ll have a chance to click a button to enter a higher bid. You will be notified if you are the high bidder and if you won the lot. Each lot will take approximately 60 seconds, some will go faster some slower. We will start with Lot 1 and continue in lot order.

Payment:

Within 3 days of auction close, we will send out your invoice via email. It also will be viewable/payable on your account page on MoreanAuctions.com. You have 10 days to pay with a check or money order to receive the 3% discount on the buyer’s premium. Sales tax will apply only to items picked up at our gallery in Massachusetts or shipped to winning bidders in MA. All items can be mailed and there will be no sales tax charged to items mailed outside MA.

Thank you very much for participating and always feel free to contact us with any questions…happy to help. Good luck and have fun.

Dan Morean

Never mind, no cans were skipped. I've watched the entire auction live, and those five cans acted like they were skipped . . . they never came up as the current can to bid on, and they stayed in the group of ten cans shown at the bottom. I guess the auto-refresh isn't infallible, which is good to know because I'm not out of money yet.

That was Interesting to watch. I didn't register to bid because I figured I couldn't afford the 3 cans I wanted, BUT, If I knew that Hopfieser was going to go so cheap I should of Registered. LEON.

Results still don't reflect the 12%/15%/20% buyers premium. Suppose that will be updated at some point.

I would think Rand is happy with the results?

LOL!! Good! I would have thought so, but always good to hear it from the source.

Some great cans have clearly found homes with people who truly wanted them. Happy ending and a new beginning.

Note: Looks like auction results now reflect the total cost.
