Regarding cans from that era, I do have a short list of "ABC Book" cans that I am looking for. I will find it and send it to you.

Eric, my best friend, who now lives in Jersey, really likes the way cans display on a wall. He's not a collector, but he and his wife asked me to help them put an entertainment room together with a focus on breweriana. If you would set aside around 200 different domestic straight steel tabs (your choice), then I'll pay for them, plus the shipping to Jersey, and give them as his 50th birthday gift. We grew up in the Philadelphia area, so any PA cans would be good. Let me know if you are willing to do that. If you don't have that many, just see what you do have, and I'll look for more at Spring Thaw for him. Thanks

..Al, on your list I probably won't have the Coors Commemorative cans as I think most of these cans are mid/late 70s- early/late 80s....but I'll still check it out...

Posting pics of what you do have is probably an easier way to do this. Your head might explode trying to remember all those brands/variations. :smt119

I hear ya......but I think it would be tough for me to get the best possible photo picturing many cans...I don't mind the lists as i go and get what they're after, then send them separate photos of those specific cans...seems to be working so far....but the day is young yet...

Do any of you guys know if this is a Coors test can at all?...I can't find its identification in the 12oz or test sections of the BCCA book...it comes close to some but does not match exactly. I know some of you guys have the other reference books and perhaps it is in one of them...I'll attach a couple of photos, In the second set of photos I have the can next to a standard size 12 ounce can so you can see that it is the taller version. You'll also notice on the photo of the bottom of the can that the previous collector from which all of these cans came from had his own inventory system in which he indicated the date that he got each particular can as well as what number can it was in his collection at the time.....Any ideas on what the year was here that he wrote?..looks like 71 but could be 77 or anything in between...I think once one of you are able to help identify the can then we'll know the date.....if any of you can use this can just let me know....thanks guys,

Eric

Eric,
Its from the time period right around when the sta-tab came out so the 1977 date would be correct. These are relatively common and I would not call them a "test" can.....they are more like a limited run production can. I have seen several top opened. It came out at the same time as the classic 2 hole push button tops.

Thanks alot for getting back, and explaining that to me kamsquared. It's always nice to get confirmation on these types of things especially when it comes to timelines and historical reference. I appreciate the comment and will note the fact that this should be referred to more as a limited run can and not as a test can. Thanks again, much appreciated.
