If you haven't taken the time yet to book that room for the Cleveland Canvention you might be staying in the spill over hotel....and you know you don't want to do that......you'll be out of the mix and miss out on much of the fun.......

I've been meaning to book a room so thanks for the prompt. I have no idea what my BCCA login is or if I even have one. Can you just contact the hotel and let them know you are part of the BCCA for the negotiated rate? If so, what's the hotel and does anybody have a direct number?

Folks,
Even if you are on the fence about CANvention, I urge you to make a room reservation. You can always cancel it later. We are way ahead of our projection at 100 days out.
Also, there is a 3 table limit for non-dealers. Tables are 6 footers and are $35.00 ea for all 3 days.
I will do my best to answer all questions in a timely manner.

Just got off the phone with Hilton.

They told me there are no longer rooms available for Wednesday the 23rd at the BCCA rate. Now is $279/night.

I was able to reserve Thurs/Fri at the BCCA rate of $125/night.

To anyone who hasnt booked and plans on doing so make sure you call the right number. I used this one the direct # 216-413-5000 to the hotel and made my reservation in early April. Before that I tried some corporate # off a website and was told the rooms were booked. Luckily I got the right number and was able to get a room reservation. Hope to see you all there in August!

I called the hotel directly couple of weeks ago and booked a room with zero problems. Coming in Wednesday, looking forward to seeing y'all there.

While we're talking hotel, I do have a related question: Are they cutting us a deal on the parking? Looks like all they have is valet for $35 a day. They cut us a better price in Milwaukee. Hoping they do it here too.

Last I heard it was going to be a discount parking rate like $15 per day... Not sure if that is correct.

Yes, parking is $15.00 per day. The rate is hard coded into the Hilton's website.
Parking is also all valet, you will not have access to your vehicle while parked at the hotel.

Folks will have to do prudent planning based on not having access to your vehicle once you pull up to the front of the hotel.....

Based on the information here it appears that $15 is the best deal....many downtown parking garages do not permit overnight parking.....

I just talked to the hotel and the parking lot is under construction. It's a mess and they don't want people running back and forth to their vechicle. It's all valet parking so if you need something, tell the valet and he will retrieve it from your vechicle. If you want to leave the lot, just call the desk 20 minutes prior and the valet will have your vechicle waiting. All this will be explained in the welcome packet you will receive when checking in.

I knew someone here would know the answer. $15 sounds a LOT more reasonable. That's what I figured the rate would be, but ya always gotta ask. If the parking lot is a big construction zone, I could understand the hotel not wanting customers wandering around in there. Could be a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I tried calling the number posted above and got routed to somebody in a third world country who does not speak muchie engrish. I asked to be transferred to Cleveland and was told by somebody there they could not book a room. They all seemed oblivious to the BCCA event by name and I don't know what the group discount code is. Does anybody here know?

I'd like to come but at this point am frustrated and may have to blow it off.

Thanks Halfquart, I missed Keith's link above. That worked and I was able to book a room for all the nights I wanted complete with a 16.5% room tax.

Now I just need to call Greyhound and I'm all set.

Tried calling the hotel last night and got the run around. Called the number given, suspect the person was NOT in Cleveland because of the accent.
Gave up, tried again this morning. Sounded like the same guy, but was able to work with him, asking him to repeat several times. Bottom line: not the best. I am reserved for the 5 nights I wanted 22-27th (checking out the Sunday), and my first and last nights are guaranteed for the $125 rate, but the middle three nights are at the higher rate until they "open up another block of rooms", and then my rate on those three middle days will go down--if I contact them and get them to do this. I don't see why they just don't do this automatically, since I have the room booked....
So, if you are going, call and find out if there are rooms available for the convention rate. There are rooms they will gladly book you into at a higher rate

It usually takes two trips for me to get my things into the room. Once everything is in I really do not need access to my vehicle. So the hotel will have a dolly/cart to load everything on?

The same cart you and a few hundred other people will be wanting to use......hope they have enough.....might have to tip a porter to keep you moving....

We let the hotel know about what to expect on the days when most of the collectors were arriving, since they can't park their car and unload at their leisure.
We will emphasize this again during our precon meeting with the hotel staff on Tuesday when we arrive. I will be at the Hilton on Sunday.

Mark, Sent you a PM about the Rusty Bottom Boys and getting our equipment for Friday night, and then getting the equipment back into vehicles. Sounds like this is going to be a minor challenge. You know how we have done it in the past so I am just looking for some guidance on what to expect.
