a CHOICE.....

#1

Post by John H. »

Ok, saw the pics of the Spring Thaw show and it looked pretty impressive. The problem I have, is that I can only attend 1 show back east, since I live on the west coast. So which should I do next year, Blue Gray in February at the new hotel, or go with the rest of the Rusty Bunch to the Spring Thaw show? It's not a choice I relish, because if I had the money, I'd do both, but life's not fair, so now I have to make a choice for next year. So, for those few who attended both, if you had to chose one, which would it be?

I have a better idea. Are you retired? If so, road trip! Stay in the Midwest for a couple months jumping from one RB home to the next.

If you are not retired yet, I cannot say for sure since I have not been to either show. Most likely I would pick Spring Thaw. Spring Thaw is a sure thing. The comeback of Blue Gray is still a work in progress.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

2023 Shows Attended

* Michigan Chapter Winterfest, January 14, Frankenmuth Michigan
* Cabin Fever Reliever, February 24, Mishawaka Indiana
* Buckeye, March 11, Toledo Ohio
* SummerSwap, July 21 & 22, Frankenmuth Michigan

Spring thaw has a lot more RB'ers involved with the planning, hospitality, and sponsorship so that makes it an easy pick for me :)

The RB meeting is at Spring/Thaw, the reason I go there now and not B/G.

go to where the Rusty Bunch is a welcome commodity....Spring Thaw.
I have had the great privilege of dumping with 68 current and former Rusty Bunch members, to date. Got to hit the woods of Virginia with Charlie Smigo recently.

Though the new location this year at Blue Gray was a welcome change, there's no comparison. Spring Thaw is much more inviting based on the great group of organizers that devote their time and effort into it, and I've found much more reasonable deals on stuff that I'm looking for at Spring Thaw as well.
