Spring Thaw uncleaned dumpers report

#1

Post by Ted Wolfe »

I won one of the boxes of uncleaned dumpers raffled off at Spring Thaw. Although I know purists look down on using lemon juice to clean dumpers, but lemon juice is what I had so lemon juice is what I used. The cans started out like this -

After soaking over night I was able to identify (and eliminate) these cans

I Soaked thase a little longer, but they didn't improve much

I kept the Schaefer, since I didn't have that design, but it is pretty rough. These cans cleaned up pretty well

I've already got the Black Label and the Ballantine, but the other cans are new to me. Nothing earth shattering, but I'm happy with it.

I use lemon juice periodically, and have great results. The trick is the right mixture of juice and water, and to make sure the water is luke warm, and not hot, or you'll see cans ruined before your eyes.

Ted:

Those were my rusty dumpers-glad you got some keepers. I'm surprised how well some of them cleaned up using lemon juice as I'm an oxalic man. Well done!
Thanks. Dave
