Post by Beverlx »

Rusty Bunch Annual Meeting Minutes
2016 Canvention
Portland, Oregon
Red Lion Hotel, White Stag Room

Officers in Evidence: Dan Scoglietti, Keith Kerschner, Dan Bora
Backup secretary: Bill Beverly

The meeting was called to order at 6:01 PM, 46 members present and on time.

President Dan Scoglietti introduced the officers.

First giveaway can: Dale Bramlette won a Genesee All Malt OI.

The officers and Scott Field welcomed RB members to Canvention and Portland.

Thanks were offered to those who helped the chapter this year, including our sponsors, Tavern Trove, Beercanman, Beer Cans Plus, and Breweriana.com; to Canvention Host Chapters, Cascade and Rainier; to Pokey Reames, who received cans sent to the Rusty Bunch dump; to Steve Armstrong for his loan of cans for the display; to Scott Field, Dan Bora, and others for helping Keith Kerschner assemble the display.

Finally, thanks given to Mark Crane, the RB’s Canvention liaison, who made sure we got forms in on time, wrangled down the price of pizza and beer, and has kept our ducks in a row for years now.

Thanks to the BCCA for another successful year and Canvention.

A Rusty Bunch Moment of Silence was observed for these members who passed on in the last year:
Harry Keithline #23
Dave Kalso #165
Bob Hildebrand #440
Dave Ohlendorf #556
Mike Tsolinos #853

Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Jim Hall reports a current balance of $3236.

A Newsletter Report was offered in place of Chris Taylor. RB members were reminded to help support Chris with articles and other contributions. Story of the Year award winners receive a $300 voucher to one of our sponsor sites.

A Website Report was given by Dan Bora. The hosting, domain, and chat fees are paid several years into the future. The site continues to attract 145 members each day; 381 RB members are website members. Upcoming shows include the Halloween Spooktacular on October 29 and the Holiday Show on December 18.

The second can, an Oertel’s 92 crowntainer, was won by Regan Fanning.

Canvention Announcements:

Officers sought RB table volunteers.
The Rusty Bunch Dump occurs Saturday at noon on River Terrace. Jim Romine reminds us that the Dump was the brainchild of Dave Van Hine.
Rusty Bunch raffle is off to a great start. Tickets are available. The raffle goes off at 2 pm.
After Party: Mark Crane’s Room, Room 252.

New Officers: nominations were welcomed; Keith Kerschner was approved as president, Dan Scoglietti as vice president.

Awards: The Lucky Dumper Award goes to Dale Bramlette, Bill Lindstrom, and Ed Scoglietti, for their Finer Flaver Ale find.

The Unlucky Dumper Award goes to Dwight Barbacci for getting caught on a game camera wearing his Rusty Bunch colors, which brought down the law, as they say back east.

Hall of Fame Awardee Roy Nelson was recognized. He remembered Hal Noehren as well, a good friend who taught him a great deal about dumping. “Man, we dug some ****,” said Roy.

New business: Keith Kerschner offered a proposal: The RB will award a free year of membership to anyone who refers a new member to the organization. Proposal passed on voice vote.

A new RB member, Harold Sugarman, thanked Ed Scoglietti for his Facebook posts about collecting and dumping and credited Ed for bringing him back to collecting.

Josh Goldstein won the impromptu hearing for Jim Romine’s cooler.

Philip Stayman spoke on behalf of Rich Richard for Hall of Fame consideration.

Keith Bennett won the third can, a Kaier’s flat top.

The last prize was the book Saloons, Bars, and Cigar Stores, donated by Steve Potter, won by Ed Scoglietti.

John Hamel reminded RBers of the Warren Hardaker Anniversary Show at Watsonville in November.

Scott Field offered congratulations to Keith Kerschner for his phenomenal work on the display.

Meeting was adjourned
at 6:44.

Dully submitted, Bill Beverly

As others have mentioned, thanks for getting chapter minutes online so quickly. Love how this chapter utilizes standard technologies for sharing of information with members. So much power with website, message board, Facebook, live videos etc, one spot to share with everyone.

Thanks Keith & CMD for stepping up and serving the chapter! (Dan, 3rd or 4th time?) I have been there and it's a lot of work. The e-mails & p.m.'s, the phone calls at anytime, about things good, and things silly & trifle. About monitoring and moderating the site. Making decisions. Contacting sponsors to advertise for cans. All the planning, buying, building, securing, bringing, working, etc., that is involved for Spring Thaw & Canvention to make it a success! Also thanks Danny, Chris, Bill, Jim, Steve & Barry for your time to make this the great chapter that it is!

Ditto to everything Greg said. This chapter requires a lot of work and I am sure most of us do not begin to realize how much goes into this behind the scenes.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

2023 Shows Attended

* Michigan Chapter Winterfest, January 14, Frankenmuth Michigan
* Cabin Fever Reliever, February 24, Mishawaka Indiana
* Buckeye, March 11, Toledo Ohio
* SummerSwap, July 21 & 22, Frankenmuth Michigan

No, no, no. It's quite easy and fun, that's why we should have a multitude of canidates for VP and Prez next year, with us actually having to vote at the meeting ! (Sorry I was talking in my sleep, had a dream about the 1990's)

Thanks Bill for the very timely notes about the chapter meeting. And thanks to Keith and all the other officers, past and present, who have made this chapter what it is today.
