That Chief doesn't even look like it's been cleaned too. Is it a new find?

It hasn't been cleaned and the debate is whether or not to try...since afraid the red will run.

Its from a collector who had just passed away so its an old find

Good article. It looks like the concern about the red is justified.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

Only cans that has seen sun could have the colors run when dipped in acid. Town Club OIs are famous for this and I have cleaned over 100+ Town Clubs. I have held the Chief and the red is very strong - it has never seen sun. Cleaning it in a mild solution of oxalic acid wont hurt it, but the new owner is an indoor can collector who knows nothing about cleaning cans and doesn't want to take the risk...so it will remain as it is. Too bad because soaking will bring it up a grade and would display even better.

BTW: the next 3 Canventions are: Cleveland, Omaha & ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (and NO, you do not need a passport!)

Thanks for the information. I knew Cleveland was pretty much a sure thing and Omaha seemed likely but I think this is the first time I have heard Albuquerque mentioned.
