I never did hear....
...about the vehicle in the parking lot with the two or three giant Rainier bottles/blow up display thingys on his car and on the trailer. Was it something I missed? Was he trying to sell them? Was it for publicity of some kind? Anyone know?
.....if many people ended up in the overflow hotel.
.......why the craft beer night opening was delayed for nearly 30 minutes?
On another note, there were many who noticed the big boat/ship that departed from behind the hotel on Saturday for a week long cruise up and down the Columbia river. As it happened, the wife and I spent a few days after the Canvention in the area, and we drove to Astoria on Sunday--and there was the boat docked. Spoke to a deck hand for a moment. Two days later, the Tuesday, we spent the day near Mt. Hood and drove back to Portland area along the river gorge. We stopped at a town, the Hood River, and there it was again, tied to a dike! It seemed to be following us, or we were stalking it....
I know it was heading to the Snake river, but it sure didn't cover much ground in 4 days.

Re: I never did hear....
Rainer Bottles were for display, they appeared at a few different locations during the show.
Two of the Aussie couples stayed in the overflow hotel. Both said it was good. Breakfast was included in the price plus afternoon happy hour with snacks and 4 free drink vouchers each as well.
Did not notice about the Micro night being late as I was late also and it was going when I arrived.

Re: I never did hear....
micro nights are typically delayed due to the fact that the people providing the beer have day jobs or are distributors that are delayed getting there. and trying to make sure everyone is set up before the doors open is key. they always end great and the delay is no that big of a deal. with free beer and volunteers anything is possible. I would like to thanks Mike Boardman on this forum for the effort he and his crew did to make this night happen and the response form the local breweries was wonderful.

Re: I never did hear....
I saw someone stumbling around outside the hotel in one of the Rainier bottles at 7:30 AM.

Re: I never did hear....
Typically the craft beer event ALWAYS starts late; (I know that it is no excuse - we are sorry for the delay). This time we were waiting for the last vendor to show up and get set up; he got there right at 8:00 PM. It is important for the vendors to be ready to serve before the doors open up. There were 16 companies (beer and cider) represented and 73 different pours to choose from. No matter how organized and coordinated you are, there usually is a small glitch. I think that everyone had a good time.stringsx24now wrote:

Re: I never did hear....
That was Todd Gerhardt with the life sized Rainier bottles and other display items in the parking lot. He brings those large displays to the Rainier Chapter shows.stringsx24now wrote:...about the vehicle in the parking lot with the two or three giant Rainier bottles/blow up display thingys on his car and on the trailer. Re: I never did hear....
Thanks for the replies, now I know.
Let me emphasize the fact that I was not criticizing or implying criticism of anything, I am just curious about things I don't know or have not been given an explanation. I thought everything was a great time, and we enjoyed the craft beer night as much as anything. It was as I figured, one vendor running late........

Re: I never did hear....
There were about 40 room nights sold at the Oxford property, so I would say 9-10 collectors were there.
