Got out in the snow after work, the temps have been around 40 during the day here in northern MI.
I found a rare local milk and it’s the first whole milk I’ve found in over 2 years of digging!! The four flats are all tudors even the silver can believe it or not. (I’ll be tossing it) The high pro cone is a mystery with a flat bottom. I’m still new to cans so not sure if I should clean them with lemon juice like I have in the past or wait and try oxalic. What do you guys think?

Cool that you got out this early. It will be some time until I can get out into the high country here.
I would wait for the oxalic to arrive. Much more forgiving than citric (lemon juice).

I shall leave no cone unturned!!

cool finds! I am guessing the cone might be nonbeer with the high pro and flat bottom?

Re: Went dumping after work yesterday.
I personally use oxallic, but Clean with whatever you’re confident with.
Keep the conetop. There’s certain ones that are flat bottomed and are still beer cans, although they weren’t sold around here. You never know
I might have to go out dumping soon. If it’s thawed up there it should be good down here

Thanks for the advice! Hope you can get out soon, I’ve been able to get out every month so far this year.Conehead wrote:Cool that you got out this early. It will be some time until I can get out into the high country here.

I don’t think I’ll ever know what the cone is. It appears to have sat out in the sun for awhile.iggyks wrote:cool finds! I am guessing the cone might be nonbeer with the high pro and flat bottom?

Hopefully I can get something readable off of the cone topbantam10 wrote:I personally use oxallic, but Clean with whatever you’re confident with.

And as far as dumping goes the ground is still frozen up here but I was able to find spots that get the must sun, like at one spot there was some old screen material and a mattress spring I ripped up and found a shallow dump underneath that was partially frozen. The milk I got by digging threw the snow a foot on a small embankment where I knew there was a bigger dump and got into soft earth.

Re: Went dumping after work yesterday.
The only difference between Oxalic, Citric, or lemon juice is time. Lemon juice cleans slower, but sometimes going slow is better. Its also a lot cheaper. I also believe the Citric and Lemon juice are safer to use, and clean the cans better. You have to clean cans to figure it out.
