Re: Mundet Crowns Mineral Spring Beer box
They were definitely used on soda bottles as I have seen several 1950s Coke ads in trade magazines that also feature Mundet crowns. But since any firm with a bottling line could purchase their caps from any supplier as needed, I would bet many brewers used Mundet crowns too. Am not sure about their use on cones, especially Crown Cork and Seal since they also made crowns, but its likely.
As an aside, in 1963 Crown made the terrible decision to buy Mundet, which in addition to caps also made numerous asbestos insulation products-and saddled Crown with some massive liability costs down the road. Although Crown sold off the Mundet asbestos division within months, the firm they sold it to went bankrupt later, and Crown was held responsible for almost $700 million in asbestos liability claims.
