Old Shay high pro cones

#1

Post by OhioCanGuy »

Was there a large find of these in the past year or so? Perhaps I missed it.

Seems like these used to not be necessarily rare, but you didn't see them that often. Now, they are everywhere. Nine have sold on ebay in the last 60 days. Last few shows I've been to had multiple available. All of the ones I've seen seem to be in the same general condition, 2/2+/1-.

Must have been a decent size find?

There was some kind of find for sure. That was a pretty tough can to find until recently.

Check out the Olde Frothingslosh Chapter show thread.

17 pictures down. There are 12 of them in the wooden case. Maybe that was the guy who found them? @keithker Did you hear anything about this at the show?

This ebay seller keeps listing/selling them, sold more than a dozen recently. No mention of a large find.

A quote from one of his listings "This is a VERY unique vintage can."

I went for one on ebay and its awesome. Also a railfan, so asked about the find and location to the Pennsylvania railroad or local steel mills. Seller said family worked in the Iron City brewery.
