National Archive Renovation

#1

Post by mmerrig »

I'm relatively new to the Rusty Bunch but really enjoy this site. I have been dumping since the 1970's and should have joined this chapter years ago. College, marriage, kids, career have been my focus for the past 25 years. Rediscovered my collection by accident after a flood occurred in my basement. Boxes were soaked and some cans destroyed, but it got me back into the hobby. I renewed my BCCA membership, #13970, and joined the Richbrau Chapter, been to the Blue and Gray Show the last two years and to Richbrau functions. I really like this forum a lot.

I recall that 15 - 20 years ago that the National Archive in Washington, DC was being renovated and a bunch of 1930's cans were discovered. Can anyone shed light on what was found, and who ended up with the cans? I believe that the first Gunther can was found an possibly some early National cones, perhaps a National Bohemian Bock cone or two. Sorry I do not have any pictures or specific details myself. But I am very interested in learning more about this extraordinary find.
