We Just Blowed up 2015! The chase for imperfection

#1

Post by Scott Rollert »

Welcome back to the contest not worth winning! This year features a new format. Contestants need not enter every week, but if you are in the Pick-a-Winner every week, your odds are better.

So what's the new format you might ask? This years schedule has 36 races, starting with Daytona and ending at Miami Homestead. One point is awarded to the entrant whose driver crashes, blows up, or otherwise finishes 36th. Easy as that. Whoever has the most points at the end of the year wins this not-so-stellar Ebling crowntainer. The slot car is NOT included!

In case of a tie, I have multiple ugly prize cans to be awarded. Good luck, don't hit the wall and keep the oil pressure up!

END OF REGULAR SEASON
____________________________________________________________________

The Chase has begun. Here is the format. You must pick a driver that is in the chase. All drivers are eligible through the last race. The worst finishing driver that is picked from the qualified entrants will earn a point. The guy that gets the most points at the end of the season will be the winner. If there are multiple winners, I have multiple prize cans. Don't expect anything nice.

The qualified entrants are the unlucky guys that picked a 36th place finisher from the regular season races. They are:
Beamer 3 points
HeyMabelBlackLabel 2 points
Canadacan 2 points
aussieguinessman 1 point
thatsus02 3 points
hastabeshasta 3 points
Justcans 3 points
renokenn 1 point
kukwawk 1 point
Alaska Chris 4 points
Updated after Homestead

The list of drivers in the chase are:
Jimmie Johnson-41st at Dover / 9th at Homestead
Kyle Busch
Matt Kenseth-42nd at Charlotte / 26th at Talledega/38th at Martinsville
Joey Logano-40th at Texas
Kevin Harvick-42nd place at Chicago
Dale Earnhardt Jr.-25th place at New Hampshire
Kurt Busch
Carl Edwards
Brad Keselowski-9th place at Phoenix
Martin Truex Jr.-15th place at Kansas
Denny Hamlin
Jamie McMurray
Jeff Gordon
Ryan Newman
Paul Menard
Clint Bowyer

If you don't pick a chase driver, you don't have a chance to earn a point. I'll update the above list after each race.
Here's to bad luck, guys!

Congratulations to Alaska Chris for a season worth forgetting!!!

I chose 36th to cull out the back markers. The guys that qualify, start, run one lap & park it. No damage to the car, and pull in a check. At position 36, that was someone running for the racing and had some bad luck. Also, there's 36 races in 2015. Good number.

so what constitutes a crash. is that include damage for an accident and then gets back in or does it mean they crash and are out of the race.

If you want a definition of a crash, I hope you saw what happened to Biffle in tonight's race.

Good to see everyone getting stoked for the 2015 season.

Not that I'm trying to get an extra point......but if if the driver was marked 'accident' on the results dose that count as a point or is it just 36th place that counts as a point?

Doesn't matter how they got 36th place. Anyone who picked the driver that ended up 36th earns a point. There will be a "chase" format for all who are qualified into this contest. Details will be forthcoming when we get to the chase part of the season.

Ahh ok so crashes do not add points right?.......unless he/she comes in 36th as a result of said crash....I thought for some reason a crash automatically earned a point if the the driver was unable to finish.

Good to see the can got to AK in good condition. A slug, knife and a trap...is the can too clean? Anyway Chris, Congrats!

I think this 2015 format worked out pretty well. Bad luck qualified you into the Chase where more bad finishes led to an eventual winner (loser?).

Teams are already getting the crash carts ready for Daytona!
