To dip or not to dip - Gluek's powder blue results

I acquired this Gluek's lo pro conetop off eBay (maybe some of you saw it). I knew it hadn't been dipped when I bid on it, and after it arrived I wasn't quite decided on whether to give it a go, since I know the gold color was going to be sensitive. Ultimately I figured it should hold up in a cooler, less potent solution. So I ran a batch of other cans through first, then dipped this one along a few other cans. I'm happy with the way it turned, and thought I'd share before/after pictures in case anyone else was wondering how it might have turned out after seeing it up for auction. The flash makes it a bit more washed out looking than it is, and the colors actually did hold up pretty well.

Now I just need to find a matching crown...

Cheers,

Rod

I hope the flash really did wash out the color, Rod. The pix look like the can lost color, especially the blue in the "Beer". If it did lose some color, try WD-40 or clear coat it. Might bring some of the color back.

Yeah, I was going to let it dry out for awhile longer, and I may run some WD-40 over it lightly. Part of the previous 'color' was actually a mixture of dirt and surface rust, which darkened it (can I call that cheating?). Anyway, I got it with the flash on the picture a bit more than I should have, which makes the contrast between the previous surface grime and current appearance greater.
