removing varnish

I recently received a can which was covered in old yellowed varnish what is the best/ safest way to reove this. Tom Hoffman

Tom.....There are a bunch of articles on here about using acetone......just be careful using it..make sure there is plenty of ventilation......I used it on a Playmate and it cleaned up all the nasty varnish.....I used a tupperware dish and slowly rolled it focusing on one area at a time...brush it off as you see it loosen up and then soap and water.....certain paints react differently to acetone so test it out on a small spot first....
