Oxalic acid question

#1

Post by bclinton »

Hi folks. I have a question about whether or not my acid is doing its job. I got it from Amazon. I use hot water. I have bid on a number of cans from eBay that looked like they may not have been soaked....was hoping to get a grade better out of them. So far no luck. Not much of any rust is coming off. The solution turns green but that's about it. I can remember using back in the day with great results. Do you guys have much luck with dumpers
from eBay? Could it be the type of acid I got?

Maybe post some photos of the cans in question. They may just simply be as good as they are gonna get.

Not yet. I pretty much get no improvement on anything I soak. That got me to thinking is there something wrong with my acid. I can remember soaking cans in the 70's that I dumped and getting a lot of improvement. I soak for about 12 hours.

Most all cans on ebay have been soaked previously. Dig some of your own and watch the acid do its thing :smt023

Be careful with soaking any can with red as it will fade fast especially with hot acid. Those do look like they've been soaked already.
