Crowntainer's are tough to clean up, but I figured I would take a chance on this one that I bought off fellow RBer, MarkfromIndy, last week. I softened up the paint spills with Neverdull, then took a new razor blade and carefully removed the drips of paint that had been splattered on it over it's 60+ year life.
The Schmidt's bock had a massive hole, but the face and back were pretty clean and I couldn't get myself to toss it. So I cut out a piece from a donor can, slid it inside the bock can and glued it tight to the inside. Then I applied a layer of glue and sprinkled color matching rust over it. At least it will fill a hole in the shelf until I come across a better one.

Cool stuff and great work. These kind of posts really inspire me to fix up some of the cans on my shelf... Thanks for sharing!

Great job. Adding structural integrity to a can at times can be daunting. Your idea of using another can inside is a good method for very large "open spaces".

I know this is an old thread but I’m glad to see people have way to patch up holes. I was wondering if that would be a possibility for some of the dumpers we have found and cleaned
