Would you clean this tough crowntainer?

Is this can too far gone to benefit from cleaning? I have never cleaned a can, and am wanting opinions from anyone who have successfully cleaned a rare can like this. Thanks, Mark

Yes welcome!...cool crowntainer, nice color on it. I know little about using the acid on it ..I'm sure some with more knowledge on cleaning will chime in.

Nice can. It looks to me as though it has already gone through an acid bath at least once, but I think it would still benefit from another.

Depending on the severity of the rust I will put a can through 3 or 4 baths.

Every can is different so there is no "one way" that is correct on how to clean it. Years of experience will give you the know how on the variables of cleaning like acid strength, water temperature, length of soak, etc. But even with the experience there is still the occasional heartbreak of a ruined can.

If you have never soaked a can before, I would recommend not starting with this one. Crowntainers are notoriously hard to clean to begin with. If you want to clean this one yourself, you might want to practice on some more common cans first.

Thanks for the advice Jim! I received a similar reply from a guy named Leon. Both of you think that it has been cleaned at least once. I am more interested in keeping the blue colors preserved; and it displays okay for me. I acquired it as a historical display in my Cincinnati memorabilia room... maybe, I'll try cleaning some old junk I have laying around, just to see how the process works. Best regards, Mark
