Seam Soaking Rig

#1

Post by JustJoe »

Thought I'd pass this along, been looking for a way to soak just the seam of a can for awhile now and finally came up with a reasonable and inexpensive solution. Well actually my wife did, she just doesn't know it yet. She came home the other day with these plastic corn cob butter trays, didn't think much of it tell we used them. I thought these would work great for soaking the seams on cans. The trays are only 4 for $ 1.00 at the Dollar Tree store.

Here's the tray.

I marked the can seam on the top and bottom.

The tray is tapered from end to end a little so I used spring paper clip to prop the can up tell it's even. Then I took a small measuring cup and added water until it was up to the marks on the top and bottom lids, noted how many ml.it took to get to that level. Emptied the water out and filled it with that amount of lemon juice.

After, I’d rather have a cleaner seam with a couple of holes than a rusty one !

Great work! I'll never buy a corn cob tray again... or at least eat out of one..
