I know the can is rare but most dumpers go for around 10% of there mint value.

Nice try Art, but 10% of this can would not equal $100!

But seriously, I have only seen 3 other outdoor versions of this can available in the past 10 years or so, and I'm a half an hour up the pike from Cincy. The can I had was one of those three. I got it for a most excellent price. When I lost my job some 6 years ago, I regretfully sold to pay bills. L.C. 500 had one not quite as nice as mine, and another one at a show that was a grade lower than L.C.'s. I also know of an indoor that changed hands a couple of times in the past few years. In my humble opinion, one of the cooler looking cans in the hobby!

Sorry, guys but Steve "DurtBagg" Rhodes and Glen Raisner dumped about 12 of these in 1990. They also got about 6-8 Hudepohl Beer J spouts in the same dump. Rhodes and I went back 18 years later and there was a house built on the dump! Steve if you are out there give the true count of what was found.

I got one of the original dumpers from that find, but I was way down the pecking order in condition. I was a solid can but faded. Years later, I picked up Romine's example at a good solid grade 2. Still on the shelf. So I've had 2 of them. Oh BTW, They were dumped in western VA along the VA/WVA line way out in the middle of nowhere.

There was also a find of the Chevy Ale J-spouts in that same area back in the 1970s by Herb Schwarz, Ken Horstman, Dick Adamowicz, Ed Papin, and a few other guys I think. Everybody got one, and there must have been a few spares because Todd Gilbreath down in Texas somehow wound up with one. Great can, I still don't have one and may never get one.

By the way, the dump that I am referring to is also the only known spot where Old St. Louis (steamboat) Ales have been dug. What a thrill that must have been! Yeah, I don't have one of those either........

Hey Tom,
I knew about the that find of Steve & Glenn, and love looking at the picture of what they scored. And the can for sale at a show may of been Jim's can. Did you get yours at a Canvention, Fort Wayne, maybe?
I also knew of the find that John is referring to, but couldn't remember too many details. Most of them I imagine, have been locked up in collections for some time.

Again I was referring to what has been available the past 10 years or so, from shows, E-Bay, or word of mouth though our circle. Not the right time for me to pull the trigger on the one Dan had for sale, but look forward to once again own one. Congrats to whoever is the new owner of Dan's can!

I have one, but I do not remember who I got it from. There is a $90 price tag on the bottom, but it's a lot rough than Dan's.

Glad you got your can sold Dan!

All the attention probably helped a bit. :smt001

Here's mine. I don't believe this one was part of any of the mentioned finds. This one came from ebay in 2005. The guy said he dumped it as a kid and it was the only one he found. It was mostly covered with tar that I had a wonderful time removing. It's on the rougher side like Marks but at least I have one. Like Greg said, this label just never comes available.

I remember the late Lea Colvin showing me a grade 1/1+ example in his collection back around 1991 here in Indy. It was the showpiece of his collection and he said he got it from a local contractor who found it in a wall during a home renovation job. So I know of one ongrade example lol.

The total found by me and Raisner was only 7 Chevys and a 6 pack of Hudepohls. I know that John Nahory got the location from Glenn later and went back and found either one or two more Chevys
