Bruck's Jubilee J-Spout Question

#1

Post by mtracy64 »

I wonder if anybody has seen a dumper of this variation, with no alcohol statement. I've seen six or seven examples over the years, and all were rubouts. I'm also curious what was painted over these if anyone happens to know that.

Thanks,

Marc

I had an offgrade, but I think it did have an alcohol statement...I honestly can't remember for sure. Did I never show you that can?

Dave,

You had the 3.2% to 7% variation, which also isn't easy to find. The DNCMT 3.2% variation is the one most often seen. It's interesting because this is the exact opposite of the situation with the other Bruck's J-Spout . . . the no statement variation is seen most often by far, and my DNCMT 3.2% can is the only one I've ever seen.

Is this dumper enough for you Marc?

I don't remember who I got it from, but I have had it for a while.

Jim,

Yes, thank you, that is dumper enough to confirm that the can was filled and sold. It's also two grades better than most of the Jubilee dumpers I've seen, no doubt due to being sold outside of Ohio.

Mine is a dumper as well. (Can't send a pic as I am sitting in the Detroit airport waiting for a connecting flight home)

At least now I know who outbid me on that can on Ebay! LOL!!

Nice can. I'm sure you were rather pleased with the final price.

Good for you, glad it went to someone who appreciates it.

Bob,

I wondered if it wasn't you I outbid after a comment you made here a couple days ago. I was pleased to win, but I thought the price was right about where it should be.

Funny thing is, another example ended a couple days before this one and I didn't realize until tonight that it was my old can.

Jim, Phil,

Thanks for the information. The Jubilee was obviously one of the last J-Spouts introduced and must have been short-lived.

Thanks, Neil. They're out there apparently, but they hide well. I've checked every Jubilee I've seen for 15 years without seeing the variation on a dumper. I'm glad I asked!

Hi Marc

I have a dumper paint over of this can w/o the alcohol statement. I dumped it myself back in the late 80's while I was in college. It was a Wagner/Lockheed can. Figured it was a potential rub out candidate due to the concave bottom and luckily it was in fantastic shape out of the ground so it rubbed out nicely!!!

Hi Steve,

Good to hear from you, and the information you provided is top-notch. The Wagner's is always the leading suspect for a J-Spout rubout, but I hadn't confirmed it for this can.

There was a find of Kamm's flat sheets several years ago, and some of them were painted over Brockert Pale Ales. It was difficult to tell once the sheets were rolled, but plain as day on the flat sheets. So, anything is possible.
