Starting out a PA cone top collection.

#1

Post by PA Will »

Hey everybody
Looks like I got the rust bug after years of just going after bottles. I figured I would start looking for stuff from PA since its home. I really dig the cone tops. Neat form. Any way what's people's opinions on stuff that should be on a PA shelf. I have a yuengling n iron city n am getting a cool "can of beer" from somebody here. I saw a $15000 reading on eBay, I don't think ill need that one ; )
So many to choose! What are your favs?
Thanks for any advice n info!
PA Will

Well fortunately there are so many great PA cones from small breweries and so many J-spouts some of my favorites are the graupners from harrisburg, old reading J's, old dutch, chester, wacker, gretz and other philly cones, bushkills, supreme, F&S, kaiers, etc although most of those are really tough labels even in dumper form. Funny thing is dumping most of the low pro's seem to be duquesne can o beers and crowntainers seem to be either old shay or sunshine no matter where you are in the state.

I love the Esslinger's stuff. The "Little Man" advertising is classic and there is a ton of it out there. It won't cost you a kidney on every purchase either..........

I want them all! Since I collect 99% conetops getting the tuff ones is what its all about. PA and NY have the best cones. Start with the easy ones. How do you know which ones those are? Just peruse eBay, you'll see the easy ones over and over.

I'm with Scott, the Esslinger's are relatively easy to get, and the little waiter guy is pretty neat. Good luck!

I've narrowed it down a bit. Im going to try for one cone, one crowntainer, and one quart from each PA brewery. I think that will be way more feasible. Humming right along too
