Post Blacked Out Alcohol/IRTP variations on Cone Tops Here
One of my favorite things to look for when looking for cones is blacked out alcohol/IRTP statements. I know of quite a few and
believe there are quite a few more that have been over looked. The reason I believe so may are over looked is that many times the black out is very well disguised.
Instead of me just listing all the ones that I know of, I would like to ask for your help to see if we can turn up some unknown variations (at least to me) that are hiding in collections out there.
So if you would, please check out closely and show pictures of your cones with blacked out alcohol/IRTP statements, and let's see how many we can list.
I will start it off with some you may not be aware of:'
First is a black out of the Old Bohemia #175-31. The black out very closely matches the dark blue and this can is easily confused with #175-30. In fact, that is how I found the variation. I bought the black out as an upgrade for my #175-30 and when I get them together I noticed the location of "Beer" was different and then discovered it was #175-31 blacked out.
For comparison here is #175-30, (notice the different location of "Beer") Next we have A Rainier Old Stock Ale. This is the actual USBC #180-7 can. If you ever wondered what the difference between USBC #180-6 and -7 was, well, it was a misprint. -7 has the words "not over" whited out so the the statement reads "Alcohol content 6% by weight".

A 2 fer here. The cone is USBC 164/02. The black line is covering the Frankenmuth-Kentucky Brewing Company mandatory of USBC 163/27 with the Frankenmuth Michigan brewery mandatory squeezed in below the black line. As a bonus, the black area below the Air Free verbiage on the side panel has a black out of an "Alcohol Content More Than 3.2% But Not More Than 7% Alcohol by Weight" statement.
(Note: The second photo of the visable alcohol statement was originally discovered by Marc Tracy on a lesser of 3 examples found in the late 90's in a west Michigan dump (see Leon's example he posted below.)

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?

Re: Post Blacked Out Alcohol/IRTP variations on Cone Tops He
On the Frankie, I'll add that it's only the second all-original HP cone I've ever noticed with a bulb top MPC. (The other was a Clyde.) This can is also lacking a litho form signature - a letter after the MPC - whereas all the pre-war Frankies from Michigan had them...both beers and ales.
Makes me wonder how long these made-in-Kentucky-for-sale-in-Ohio Frankenmuth sheets sat around before they blacked everything out and offloaded them in MI. That dumper wasn't filled and lidded until mid 1941 or later, but from the seam style it could conceivably have been manufactured anytime in 1940.

Jim were you aware of just a 6% by weight without the not out painted out?...essentially alcohol statement 6% on one line not two?

Yes, I believe your can is USBC #180-6. They just failed to note clearly the difference between your can and USBC #180-7.

Has anyone added this one to the list? I acquired it many years ago in a trade.

Re: Post Blacked Out Alcohol/IRTP variations on Cone Tops He
I have what appears to be a blacked-out Grain Belt alcohol statement. Either that or someone took a black magic marker to it before I got it. A little hard to see since black on black.

Wow, thanks for posting.
That certainly looks like a blacked out statement to me.
I have added it to me composite.

Heres an Old Style I dug in Michigan or Wisconsin, cant remember The fading is pretty cool since part of the blackout faded to reveal what was underneath.
