Great Sign on EBAY
I don't collect ACE but LOVE this sign. If I was "flush" right now I would be bidding. Did anyone else notice this beauty? I used to have a Leinenkugel's version of this bottle cap sign. It was beautiful.
I love it! Maybe I should sell the 007 and a few others and bit. Any idea how high it might go? Cut and paste the link below:

Awesome! I've never seen that style of light with that brand before. I have seen a number of others such as Krueger and my Regal.

Re: Great Sign on EBAY
Whoever wants it is willing to pay a hefty price for it. I bid what I thought would be far above what anyone else would pay, and I was high bidder for less than hour. It's going to decorate somebody's collection, just not mine. Sigh...

Re: Great Sign on EBAY
I used to live in Sioux City,Ia for 21 yrs...The Sioux City Brewery (thou a small Brewery) produced some great stuff but there flag ship beer was the Heidel Brau (green /orange) cone top and thats where the brewery put there money in...
As for the cans ......
Heidle Brau cone is easy to come by but hard to find in gr 1 as the gold bands(top/bottom) tarnish..late 1947(?)-1958 cone top when the brewery closed.
Western Brew....(50's flat) It is a hard can to aquire and ugly as hell but the brewery examples of bottle/trays/signs/coasters/ are just cool.cool cool!! pre 1950 stuff is hard to get but not impossible.. I was told yrs ago by an old timer that Western Brew sucked as it was a cheap beer like Keystone today, but Hamm's,Pabst and Schlitz were the beer of the day..You only bought Western Brew when money was tight ..
Ace Beer(the playing card beer)....Just a stunning mid/late 50's flat and just seen a gr 1 sell for $1500.00+ on ebay this week....WOW! They don't hold up well very much in dumping condition and poor at best but an indoor can w/color is a must for any Iowa collector. Just think that 10+ yrs ago I had a shot at a gr 1 Ace for 300 bucks but passed as I thought I would find one some day as I lived in this City...boy was I wrong...
As for the Ace Sign .....I thought the 2K range was fair but I am a can guy so what do I know....
I sure would like to hear from my Iowa Bros..............

Re: Great Sign on EBAY
Maybe we'll see it again at next year's BG backbar display. I'd like to see the can if anyone has a pic of it.

I don't think plastic signs are allowed into the backbar display.John H. wrote:Maybe we'll see it again at next year's BG backbar display. I'd like to see the can if anyone has a pic of it.

Interesting, I guess if someone saw what the first one went for, why not try to get that amount for theirs too.

Re: Great Sign on EBAY
Is there really a prohibition of using plastic signs in John Bains backbar display? Including the ones shown here, I have seen and own some really great ones, so why would they be prohibited? I have a plastic motion sign that I hope to display at the 2014 display at Blue/Gray, but I'll keep it a secret until everyone sees it (providing John allows me to use it).

Re: Great Sign on EBAY
It is because the seller did the common mistake of transposing the letters in Gettelman to Gettleman (happens a lot for Gettelman stuff). I'd be curious what other brewery names do people look for that have that same type of simple transpose of letters to be aware of...ronsmall wrote:There's a Gettelman on eBay now too...

Re: Great Sign on EBAY
Mike - what was the Metz on Craigslist priced at? Picked one up and a ballpark value would be good to know. Thanks, Kevin/Iggyks
