Detecting and bottle digging in Alaska.

#1

Post by DanielinAk »

Went for a little detecting today and it started out a little foggy.
Image
Image
But it was a great weather.
Image
Image
I managed an embossed Lemp beer bottle.
Image
First spot gave up a few keepers.
Image
And the fog cleared up.Image
Today's digging buddy scored his first Amber export beer bottle.
Image
Then he found his first mouth blown Catsup. Image
And at the second site he held for me to come video something, and it turned out to be the patented glass fruit jar lid from 1898.. Again a first for him and his oldest aged anything he has ever found.
Image
And I'm digging nothing special.
Image
Onto site number four and again he says come film this its strange and he pulls out this marked stoneware Ale bottle another first for him..
Image
From Glasgow... How cool is that and in Alaska to boot.
Image
And these are what I kept for the day's digs.
Image
I did manage to find the first issue Prince Albert tin from 1907.
Image
And the Lemp bottle.

Yeah, That Lemp bottle is a nice score, Not sure of age but gotta be around turn of the Century 1900. The Glasgow stoneware pottery ginger beer is extremely common with very little value but still fun to dig. Congrats. :smt023 LEON.

Yes, but I just realized my clear glass bottoe is 12 ounce, so I don't the taller bottle at all. Well, I do have a taller one with a crown top, but Daniel's bottle is a few years older! Very cool.

The purple color is known as SCA or Sun Colored Ameythist from many years of exposure to the sun.
