Cedar Spring Spring Water Jacksoville

Picked this up today from a retired lobster fisherman who
Dredged it in Marathon FL Keys....about 7” tall.. not much of a bottle collector but seems to be amethyst color. Any thought as to age/rarity?

On my phone I can’t see the top but it doesn’t look like a blob top so I’m assuming 20s-40s. That company was around in 1915 for sure according to the registry.

He purple color is from the sun and is because of the minerals in the glass; the bottle would have been clear. I can’t give any indication on value but I find that in general, SCA (sun color amethyst) bottles are easy to sell for 15-20 bucks if just a common bottle with no damage.

Here’s another pic with the top.. this thing is heavy for its size and upon closer inspection has air bubbles in the glass.

So this is a crown top soda. Without doing a bit of research on the company - crown top sodas generally date after ~1915 if they are machine made. There are earlier crowns which date from the late 1890s to about 1915 and these would have been mouth blown in a mold. You can typically see the tell tale signs of it being blown. The machine made ones were usually embossed in a slug plate like the one you have here.

Are there any other markings on the bottle at all? Since so many of these were made by just a few companies, the bases are sometimes marked and that would allow us to date the bottle.

Based on the slug plate though I would still suspect 20s-40s.

Chattanooga glass works TN. Says may have been in use from 1901-1915 so that would likely be the date range The bottle was made. They could Also reuse some bottles later

Thanks for the assistance. Not educated in bottle dating, but this one just popped compared with several others I saw yesterday.
