Bottle Found Along Shore.. Help Identify

#1

Post by Steganona »

Hello, my name is Jessica and I stumbled across a bottle while cleaning up along the coast in Groton, CT. It looks old, I was curious as to if anyone could identify it (age, type of bottle). The metal cap on the (thicker than they make nowadays) plastic bottle led me to believe it was older than myself. If anyone could input that would be awesome! Thanks :)

1982 1 liter plastic Coke bottle.
The bottom piece is glued on, and comes off.

It's little finds and curiosity like yours that brought a lot of us together collecting old things. I believe plastic soda bottles went away from aluminum lids in the late 80s to early 90s. Someone else may know exactly..I'm just going from memory. Thanks for cleaning up the shoreline!!

Those old plastic bottles were discontinued because a chemical used in its production that would cause toenails to turn lavender. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about since it has been on the high seas since 1980.

And how/why is that a problem? I wouldn't mind hot pink or chartreuse toe nails either...with Summer coming and being fashion minded.
