Steve is one of those friends that a person is lucky to have. A generous and entertaining fella. If you are ver traveling through MN. on I-90, he would welcome you with open arms & beers for a tour of his collection.I'm sure many of you fellas share a similar story about how you got started collecting cans. Most Minnesota kids seemed to start with the Schmidt scenic collection, like Steve did.

Re: Beginning beer can collecting-Steve Miner's story
That's good to hear... I go through there about once a year. I still go up to the family farm my cousin's have. There is a dump up there in May I am trying to get to.
Dad and I got started when we found an old dump on the family farm in Duluth Minn about 1967/68.
We pulled out tons of cones and flats and some were the gold and yellow seam schmidt cans.
I remember those well. Started collecting right after that.
Wonder how many guys started after putting those schmidt cans on the shelf?

Re: Beginning beer can collecting-Steve Miner's story
Nice interview on video. It remind me when I first start collecting beer can in the 80's. At one time, I remember I have to do some kind of speech in English class in High School and guess what was my topic was ??? Beer Can !!!!!!!!!!!!. There were a time limit on speech. I think it was 10 or 15 minute speech. I went overboard, it was 22 minute long .,but at least I got a A or A plus on that speech. The funny story is that ,When I went to my 10 yr class reunion(this was some time back) and happend to see my English teacher there, Still remember my specch !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yikes !!!!!!! Nowadays, You can't discuss about Beer Cans speech, otherwise I proably get suspended !!!!!!!!!!!!
