Re: POST YOUR PAINTOVERS HERE
A Covid-19 time passer. Got the Handi years ago, but doing a test spot rub, found out it wasn't what I'd hoped for underneath. With all this free time now, I figured why not see what was under the Handi. Instead of comparing apples to oranges, it's oranges to oranges.

Re: POST YOUR PAINTOVERS HERE
Grabbed some Bulldogs and one white unrolled sheet off theBay that were obvious rubouts. They came with the letter from Pacific can- 1,400,000 paintovers!?! Searched here on RB, only Hamms found under these so far? Ziphippie

Re: POST YOUR PAINTOVERS HERE
I've come across only one Pacific Can paint over. A Bulldog from S.F. under a Karl's K from CO. Not that I go out of my way to find them.

That is so cool, Kind of dismissed the Pacific Can Co. cans, didn't really see much ? Going to have to be a little more diligent ! That's one of the reasons I get a kick out of the whole Paintover game.

Re: POST YOUR PAINTOVERS HERE
I've wondered about the contractual arrangements involved in repainting can sheets. I would imagine that the National Can Co. sent out a lot of those letters in the mid-60's.

Re: POST YOUR PAINTOVERS HERE
That speaks to how many cans were made of pretty much any can out there! You think you have a can that is "one of a kind"? Not likely....maybe "one of one known" but they likely made thousands if not millions of any label that was filled with beer.

I rubbed the backside of a Ccc27 Uncle Ben- he gave me that creepy look like he enjoyed it, more foreign rubouts? Ziphippie

Re: POST YOUR PAINTOVERS HERE
had a couple different Ccc27 Uncle Ben’s laying around the garage and noticed minor differences in the mandatory. The one on the right has more layers of ink visible at the seam and feels heavy, leading me to believe there was something underneath. Sometimes you just gotta jump in. Ziphippie

Re: POST YOUR PAINTOVERS HERE
I uncovered this one under a Cumberland Old German 2-100-33-3. Quite a few of these were paintovers, but usually I have found Colt 45's, Duke's or pop cans under them. It was a dumper so it has some rough spots.
It is a National Can co. can. They seem to have done a lot of recycling like this.- Scott Rollert

Re: POST YOUR PAINTOVERS HERE
Going from a tip posted here about suspicious can codes, I found this Fresca in the boxes in my garage. It had the same code number, but 2 different colors in 2 different locations on the seam. Now it's my next Covid project.

Re: POST YOUR PAINTOVERS HERE
Been rubbing this one out in my spare time which I don't have a lot of. The tougher version from South bend. Being a dumper with issues this one has been harder to rub out than most....

Re: POST YOUR PAINTOVERS HERE
Next up in the queue is this Duke that had 2 can codes. It's another Big K diet, this time its Root Beer. The white is more of a cream white than the Orange I did a couple of months ago.
Could be different can companies, too. The Orange is Continental, the Root Beer is National. The federal tax code is 10 times bigger than the Bible with none of the good news

Most of the cans I've rubbed that had white on them were like a cream white. Might be from being primed over.....Scott Rollert wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 12:11 am Next up in the queue is this Duke that had 2 can codes. It's another Big K diet, this time its Root Beer.
