this is getting ridiculous

so I'm up in Chicago for a wedding and I hit my favorite non-dominant chain liquor store. Scoping out the craft and micro brewery aisle I see something very odd.

It's a TWO PACK of 12 ounce cans, a stout, for ... $8.99!

I mean, it's bad enough that you can almost not find any 6 pack of 12 ounce cans under $9.99 anymore, but 2 cans for 9 bucks???

No thanks.

picture from the dominant chain in town, same price as the store I was in: https://www.binnys.com/beer?size_pack=52818

That Samoa Stout sounds good to me... and it has a vague exotic part of the world feel to at least this OC/OC collecting CAN-atic!

I would like to think if you are paying $8.99 for a two pack it is really good beer but who knows? Maybe that brewery's customers can't tell the difference between good and bad beer and simply pay the $8.99 because they assume it must be good.

Maybe it a coming trend.

How's about two 12oz cans of local Michigan wine on sale @ 2 For $9.00 instead of the regular price of $7.49 per can! At least got a choice of RED, WHITE or ROSÉ.

This is probably a special stout. At that price, I would guess bourbon barrel aged or the like. Those always go for a lot more, but you have higher costs involved, and you get a very special brew that is usually worth the price. I sure understand if you don't want to pay that much. I can get most of my locals for $8.99 a six, at least on sale.
