Ok so I’m a little confused. Is the thought that this Schmidt’s might have had white paint or that it was a dull gray color? Or is it just so rusted away that it just looks different?

Here are some zoomed in pics of area that might have some original paint?

The Schmidt's could have either white or gray paint instead of the standard silver. Both were used on other labels.

Yea, that can is a turd, but glad you still have it. The line between the can body and the spout are a dead giveaway that the paint is different. All Schmidt's that I am aware of are all silver....no line.

It’s so nice here that I definitely had plans to return to this dump and just fill some buckets with more mystery cans or look around in our dump piles now that I know more but other things won’t allow it.

Hopefully this weather sticks around a bit longer

Ok here are the pics of the cans I have cleaned and still have to date. I didn’t include the fiegenspan bock beer because it was on a shelf and I missed it.

Some of these might be trash and I’m all ears if you see ones worth tossing. I don’t need to be keeping cans that need to be recycled.

Some of these cans could probabaly use another soak but I try to limit it to 4 hours unless I figure the can isn’t going to clean and then sometimes I just let it go to try and figure out what it was.....the Dawson’s come is an example of that and Thr Schmidt’s crown (not pictured).

Hope these are good enough to see or zoom in

Vast Majority of those are worth keeping. Especially if you go to a local show sometime and sell them as $1 cans.
Dutch Ale in 2nd group and The ALE next to the Krueger in 1st group are the 2 I’d toss.

The michels Crowntainer is an extremely tough can.

Crowntainers
If either the Hulls Beer or Ale does NOT say Internal Revenue Tax Paid on one side. They are absolute keepers. The Beer is a tough can regardless.

There are two variations of the two faced Cremo you have there. The variation is on the side panels. Hard to describe.

The Hanley’s Lager Is the Extra Pale variation; 50 time tougher than the Extra Dry.

Look on the side of the Krueger, if it does not say Krueger vertically: it is a good variation. Harder than the one that says Krueger. Fitzgerald’s Burgomaster STRONG on one side, is tougher than no STRONG on one side.

On another note, that is one crazy variety of cans coming out of one spot this long after they got dumped there.

PON bocks , the aforementioned cans and other NJ /PA types mixed with the NE stuff , well excites some of us RB guys instead of what’s rarer just lightly off grade than on grade or such

I really have no intention of keeping the cans. If they are cans not worth shipping them I’ll be boxing them up for someone more local.

I can’t get into cans except to keep a few I like. The rest I’d rather see with can collectors who appreciate them more than me. Looking for them is fun and cleaning them with my son is fun.

Thank you for that information.

It appears all the bulls have the IRTP. The Kruger has the name vertically on the sides. I don’t see the word strong on the fitzgeralds but where would it be? I tossed a bunch that I wasn’t going to clean since they seem so common but maybe I’ll look at them again if it’s easy to spot.

I’m not positive what it was. Could be that it was being dumped here by some type of camp or area that was nearby? Certainly nothing obvious now but who knows back a few decades.

I took a snapshot of one of the cans in the second picture....attached here. It's a Narragansett Pale ....hard to tell....but if it happens to have opening instructions on the side, someone will want that for their shelf.....it's a pretty tough can...at one point, it was estimated only 12 existed. In that condition, it's not worth a lot of money, but as a place holder, I'm sure someone will want it.

So the Narragansett is a great example of a can that looks way better wet. If I put that can in the water and take the picture while it’s wet, everything shows up so much better. It does not appear to be an OI can but that side cleaned like crap.

Seems cans on display that have been dumped would look better with some type of coating or something that keeps them with that wet look.

Also - the Tudor is from Trenton NJ

I'd leave the ones like the PALE (that don't look like they'll clean up more) alone for a collector who can give them additional TLC at their discretion. These days we frown on clear-coating cans as cleaning methods have evolved; once a can is coated, it can no longer be cleaned. WD-40 works but again should not be used unless all other cleaning methods have been used.

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?

Yesterday’s cleaning. Not sure if all are worthy but this is what I didn’t toss.

People have asked me - I put the best side of the can forward. Some may have holes on the other side etc but the best looking side is what you see

Hi - Quart can in the last pic is a very tough Hartford Connecticut soda. Someone will want that for the shelf.

Thanks -

I haven’t added all of the cans to the list up top so you’ll have to bear with me. Here are most of the last of the cans. Pretty much all that is left now is about 50 cans but that includes the rarest ones (ebel beer, Cremo beer etc).

I think at least one of the hulls ale is a non IRTP. I haven’t pulled the first ones out in the original pictures to see.

As you can see, most of the Cremo ales and Dawson’s are rough. The cremos were in rough shape with holes etc and the Dawson’s just don’t clean up well.
