Fishing Finds

#1

Post by digger »

Got out to trout stream my son told me about In central Pa. It was a limestone stream so water temp stays cold yr round. On the way to the creek I hiked back an old dirt lane and there were a few cabins back in the woods . One looked abandoned so like most RBers I had to check it out Sure enough by the old wooden outhouse there was a mound of cans under some pines . Nothing to dig with, I went back about 2 wks later with my old collector friend Jim and a digger. Dump turned out to hold a lot of cans with conetop and OIs [*]

Always go back. Some good color there. Did you get more fish or cans?
Thanks. Dave

Great finds. Always nice to stumble across something while doing another thing.
Honor is like an island,
Steep and without a shore;
They who once leave,
Can never return.

Definitely more cans but a few nice browns I was hoping to see some Bock cans since these were cabins on a popular trout stream and trout season is in Spring PlN to go back this Fall with detector

I see a "Keg-O" in the mix, I found about a case of them nearly twenty years ago near the Kelletville area, I still have the nicest one that came out of the pit and one other not so good one I held on to, I went back to the area this past early June and I'm quite sure I was at the exact spot where I found them all those years ago, but nothing was to be found, the whole trip was rather disappointing, many of my old spots are now covered with big no trespassing signs, I did scatter dump a hillside where I had found many cans back then and did find another 8oz Tech and a few other cans that I missed all those years ago, condition wasn't the greatest, a pic of the Keg-O from the first find.

2 Lps were in the dump one was a Keg-Obeer and other was a Gibbons Beer I have dumped in Kelletville area Rusty lots of cabins but never had much luck where cabins are in clusters guess they didn’t want to dump in each other’s back yards Chappie and I had some luck behind single cabins. Pa can be tough to find cans as we had some trips that turned up empty.

I actually found my Keg-O's by chance, my buddy and I were going to hit a Known dump, but when we got there road crews had been dumping road kill dear in the dump, needless to say it didn't smell pleasant lol, so we moved up the road a few hundred yards from that dump and stopped and scatter dumped the road sides, it was here that I found the Keg-O's and my buddy was finding crowntainers and several other various cans, was a fun trip way back then, I found very little there this last time around.
