First trip of 2019

#1

Post by bantam10 » Sat Apr 13, 2019 8:29 pm

Finally had the extra funds to do some dumping with Kyle. The plans were to do some pit/scatter dumping, visit my roadside 30’s dump I found last spring and rehit another camp site.
The first can dumped for 2019 was a Budweiser zip top.
All the spots we hit before going to the dump were busts. That bud was the only can found.
Next we hit the dump. 1930’s trash dumped along a road above the river. Wasn’t as big as I thought, but that’s ok because we worked for hours on a steep incline. Mostly Drewrys, with Meister Brau (my most wanted upgrade currently!!), goebel and Frankenmuth cones that Kyle found. Also tons of oil cans! We found a small spot with 50’s goebels and a football bantam can. Last spot here has more Drewrys, 1 looks like a battleship grey can and mason root beer flats?? Either way that’s a new soda for us.
Last camps were busts, and we were battling snow, frost and down trees from last summers severe storm.
The very last stop was to rehit a spot I detected last spring during a snowstorm. We focused on the bottom of the hill from the camping area and found lots of scattered cans. Kyle kept a crowntainer and I got a falstaff flat that I’m hoping is an upgrade. I somehow managed to find another pit here that I missed last time. It had 3 oil cans and 4 beer cans. 2 pabst flats, 1 black label and 1 Drewrys flat. One of the Pabst cans was a shoved in the oil can, creating a perfect can in a can and an amazing can that I’ve been wanting to upgrade for years.

Nice age with the Goebel german eagle. Keep an eye out for the first Drewry's Lager, for some reason those seem to be pretty rare finds.

I got several of them. Dump had both lager and the extra dry o/i ‘s. Unfortunately that goebel was very bad on the other side so I left it. But I got one that has a thinner level of rust on it.

I think Eric is referring to the Patents Pending version with no black line separating the O/I info from can. The first Drewrys Ale can is also a toughy. LEON.

Got most of these cleaned. Nothing special but the Meister is my cleanest one to date and I’m happy with it. It even has a Pilsner vanity lid. I’m also keeping the pabst and best masons. Masons is a new can and pabst is a major upgrade. The Drewrys are going to the totes and goebel is going to the trash.
