Just one can

Post by bantam10 »

I hit a spot where another old cabin once stood, but I couldn’t find any surface rust anywhere. There were a few decent sized pits though but all 69-70 era soda cans in bad shape.
2nd spot I Parked and right away noticed a few galvanized pots and some other random buckets, with an embossed Pepsi bottle and a 30’s food can. I could tell that these items were put here from somewhere else, so I did tons of walking here too. 30 yards off the road there were more buckets and lots of metal banding. Followed this forever until I found another small pile of junk. Pre war vintage. First rim I see I grab and I’ll be damned it’s a flat top. The only one at this location. It’s one I’ve been wanting to find since I started dumping.

Dew point of 75 and tons of clouds, felt like a jungle with very low visibility. Been very slow here lately and I must say, I’m Starting to really hate summer dumping.

Lotta typing for 1 can :smt024

Yeah, But what Lilek # ?
It's a Pabst Old Tankard....not the Old Tankard by Pabst.
It's Pabst Brewing....not Premier Pabst.
Statistically, it's likely a Lilek #635.....but if it's a red opener (more unlikely), then its #634

It took me a few seconds to identify it. At first I figured it was just another Drewrys but I flipped it over and it became clear, plus I could read Peoria heights on the side.

I’m super happy. 30’s ale cans are always nice to find and are rarely found ever around here. Hopefully the front turns out as good as the sides should.

Anxious to see how did that Pabst OTA OI turns out.
"Although the cans will be of no value after opened, their cost is expected to be small..." Iowa: June 22, 1935

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?

Same here. Going to be awhile though, waiting until I have 20-25 cans to clean first before I buy more acid.

That’s a great de-denting effort! That before pic looks like that can would just explode trying to get that can back to cylindrical. Excellent job!!
