Frozen grounds

#1

Post by bantam10 »

Made a trip to an unusual part of the state that I’ve never dumped before. Bad part is that the ground is still heavily frozen in most places so that eliminates my chances of pit dumping and kinda ruined my day. But, first spot I went to had a large 30’s dump from loggers, only yielding 1 Lo pro cone. 2nd spot was the same, however I immediately noticed a bed spring and a coffee can sticking out of the snow, with pings literally everywhere. I checked the thawed out spots with no luck and then looked around where the bed spring was, which was on a hill. That’s when I noticed cans everywhere, sticking out of the snow. The only one above the ground was a German eagle goebel can, which is 1938 vintage. I walked along the hill for several hundred feet and realized I had a major hillside 30’s dump with beer cans everywhere. This was a dangerous situation on the side of an icy hill with the river at the bottom. I grabbed as many cans that weren’t frozen as I could. This place will keep me busy for awhile. Just have to wait until it thaws out more.

Here’s what is cleaned so far. No new shelf cans this trip. These are going to be dollar cans. The LP turned out to be a Milwaukee club. I was thinking either the earlier schlitz or the newer Milwaukee club. I’m not going to keep it, but it’s probably the oldest can I’ve ever found.

Unless that Milwaukee Club is FB/IR that Goebel could be the oldest if it's got the Black Instructions on back. Close call as they both were made around the same time. LEON.

Goebel is the regular panel and Milwaukee club has a concave bottom.

Very nice Ted.

Looking forward to when you can get into that big one and dig it.

The Mil. Clubs have lots of alc. variations on the side panel that are not pictured, so check them all out.

Hell yeah bantam that’s what I’m talking about. Good job on finding a new dump and your oldest can.
