Some color in the desert

#1

Post by Jay »

I found a few can sticking up from the sand out near ft. Bliss. After flipping them over I found out that they had some friends buried in the sand. Cans come out nice in the high desert as long as the drinkers were courteous enough to bury them. I found this dime out there also, just laying on the surface.

That's a 1905-S Barber dime. Hard to tell the condition in your photo, but maybe Fine or so? If so the current "Trends" value is about $9. Pretty neat find if it was just sitting there waiting for you!

One benefit about being a soldier is having access to places that are off limits to the public, and the military has not used them in 50 plus years. I find lots of silver dimes, the soldiers used to use them to take their weapons apart. When something gets dropped out here it just lays there forever. I have lots of mercs and Rosie’s but this was my first barber find. The cans did come out pretty nice. These have the case of bottles on the front, a new can for the I dumped it shelf.

No, just a 12. I am happy it was something beside mission sodas or falstaff. This new area seems to be 40s and early 50s. Lots of southern select crowntainers but they were all surface and not worth taking. Going back out over thanksgiving.

Thanks Leon, I will let you know. You can just see a seam of another edelweiss can in the pic. I pulled seven pretty nice ones out. It was actually the whole 12 pack.
