Dumping on the river

#1

Post by bantam10 »

Today's journey started at 8pm along the manistee river just north of Manton. My plan was to follow the river east and hit as many pull off camp sites as I could. Well I did, and what a workout. I did even chase after 2 old cabins. 1 I couldn't find, only a mustard jar and the driveway were left and the 2nd one I found the foundation and a pile of cans under some weird outhouse looking thing. Most cans today were pit dumped (my favorite method of dumping by far, in fact I belong in CA) or scatter dumping. Had a great day. And man the view!!

Here's my keepers. Doesn't look too impressive but there are several new shelf cans in here. I also found this State Farm tag.

I was super happy to find the pfeiffer cans even though I already have a nice dumper. At first I thought they were eidelweiss cans

Plus I was hoping that some of the Drewrys would be from Chicago but they're all south bend cans

Got 2 pots of cans cooking now. Here's some of the stuff that didn't make the cut. If anyone needs a glass can let me know.

Bantam,
The condition of the Pfeiffer's and Drewerys are really nice out of the ground. If you can find something like Goebel Bocks in that soil, they would clean up nicely! The scenery is nice! :smt023

A few quick cleaners. Any guesses on the bottom can is ? (I know what it is). Very happy with the masons can. I believe I need the BL zip. The pabst is a variation I've been chasing for several years now. The pfeiffer cans are always nice too. Not always found for me but they hold up nice here. I already dumped a nicer one years ago.

It's a long opener

OK, I took up the challenge, thumbed through my copy of the Lilek book carefully ... if it's a long opener it's got to be an Old Bohemian from Cleveland. Do I win anything???

We have a winner! My first time finding a long opener too. Once I picked it up and realized how large the opener holes were and that it had no bottom bead I knew it was a keeper.

Those seem to be common finds in Michigan for some reason. I probably found them at at least 5+ different location. LEON.

Last of the clean cans from this trip. Only keeping the colt 45. It is from national brewing Detroit and is a Fan tab. Needs to be fixed and will be a much needed addition!
