Oh So Close

#1

Post by DaveNH »

I re-hit a dump Seamonkey and I found earlier this month yesterday. The dump was pre-war and loaded with lots of big punch cans. Literally 9 of 10 cans found have been Krueger Cream Ale medium openers. The non Krueger cans have been a lone Genesee 12 Horse Ale, 3 Krueger Finest Beers, Wehle Pale Ales, Scotch Thisle Ales, Pabst Blue Ribbon Export Beers and 1 Horton's Ale quart (the only quart in the dump.). I went back yesterday as it's always fun to dig pre-war big punches and came home with three bags of cans and a sign. Not surprisingly the sign was for Krueger's Beer and Ales, but was surprising is that the sign was older and advertised baldies. So far, not one baldie has been found in the dump. Seems like the cabin owner was a big fan of Krueger's and probably got the sign from the store where he bought his beer. Too bad the sign was in terrible shape and missing half it's letters and image. Probably won't clean up much, but I came close to finding a gem...

I would try and cut a neat square area around the cans, soak it and display it. have you looked around the property some more? Sometimes places have more then one dump.

I was going to suggest cutting out the cans, soaking it and framing it. Bet you could get $40 for it at canvention!

I took your guys advice and cut out the better left side of the sign with the cans and soaked it. Here's how it ended up.

I go along with the mount and frame suggestion . Did that the with an embossed rusted Coke sign, actually a piece of coke cooler lid that I found in a the basement of burnt out building. The whole cooler had fallen through the floor as the building burned . any how I cut out good part, mounted it on a wooden frame, then painted it and then clear coated it. Got $65.00for it at a craft fair.
