Rust and Rattlers

#1

Post by digger »

Jim (conehead) Hall called me last week and wanted to get out dumping before he headed West. I was glad he called and anxious to go (except for chance of running into some snakes which I mentioned to Jim). Rattlesnakes in the area of Pa are abundant but some times u see them sometimes U don't .We were willing to take that risk. I invited Portermite along since him and I have dumped that area and he enjoys going to the mtns of Pa. We were hoping to find just old cans not snakes but we found both. Even though the snakes put a little damper on the trip we still searched on and were able to find cans. Weather was great and few cabin owners we met were very friendly. Enjoy the pics!

Thanks go out to Digger and Portermite for accompanying me on this spur of the moment trip.

That big hole had over 100 J-Spouts! We were only able to identify the Ebling at the site. Can you say Philipsburg Old German? We are hoping the mystery cans will turn out to be some.
I shall leave no cone unturned!!

Got my cans all cleaned up and unfortunately there were not any Philipsburg Old Germans in the mystery cans, but a couple rare ones did pop up in the acid when cleaning. We found a couple of J's that there are less than 10 currently known! Portermite still has to clean his cans so there still may be some more surprises!

A story will be coming in a Rustlings soon.

Now that the Rustlings story is out, I just wanted to update this thread with a pic of my can of the trip.

It was a great trip with a couple great guys and I couldn't be more happy with finding this can.
