First dumping trip of 2017

#1

Post by bantam10 »

Whew, what a day! I decided to re-hit a spot I first discovered right after graduation back in 2015. I didn't realize then, but the two track actually led to an old cabin foundation. So I finally put that on my to hit list and wow, tons of pits everywhere! Literally almost too many cans to dig through. Was superb and peaceful as I dug through mid 60's stuff through early 70's cans. I did find an older pit with flats but everything was roached due to the sandy soil. But I did find a few 7 up bottles. The biggest pit had Hamms and Schlitz slot tabs, black labels with the map, flat top soda cans and other 60's stuff. I also found several older 50's flats scattered around top but nothing cool. I just need to find that dump somewhere. 2nd spot was a pull off that's on my old maps. Not much here, but I kept a weird pop can, a gas/oil can and a mystery flat. Was too busy to take many pictures but what am awesome start to the year.

Might have to toss a shovel in my Jeep to do some digging when my wife and I go out on trails!

Pepsi is a serious upgrade! Schlitz is a new can with that top, and the Marsh black cherry is a new shelf can too. It was scatter dumped at spot 2.

The mystery flats were Schlitz (54 variation) strohs, extra dry goebel and a blatz. I did leave a really nice oval gray Drewrys behind :( I'll have to check the other side of the lake next time because I've had luck doing that.

Here's a few more. I'm behind on cleaning cans big time. I really like the non beer can cans. The altes was found yesterday, at a different spot. Not enough activity to write a story.
Schlitz is a 1968 version. Hamms are ok I guess. Keeping the Schlitz and 1 Hamms.

Thanks. I'm pretty happy. Took me forever to find a decent bottle cap Pepsi. Most of these are cleaned now. But still gotta do the cokes and the tab yet.
