With a little time on my hands and my rust monkey screaming I headed East to do a little dumping. I had been communicating with Paul Bojarsky and
Dwight Barbacci about getting out and doing a little digging but it wasn't looking like either trip was going to work out. So I googled drained lakes in Pennsylvania and found two just Northeast of Pittsburgh, So on Wednesday April 20th I headed East To Glade Run Lake. This Lake created in 1954 had been drained in 2011 to repair the dam. I arrived around 2:30 in the afternoon cutting through the construction zone, parking out of the way near a park building.
Right away I dug this Big K soda it looked halfway decent but the aluminum top was dissolved and the bottom fell off.
This is what I was hoping to find, some Iron City flat tops, maybe I'll dig a clean one? I headed to the creek hoping to get some cans exposed from the erosion. It wasn't looking good the Galvanic corrosion was pretty intense here even solid aluminum cans are brutally effected, I've never seen this before.
Well I gave it about two hours, I dug a lot of cans but the condition was terrible, not one clean can. It just goes to show not all lakes will preserve cans. Possibly in a different area of the lake I may have found some better condition but the construction crew was leaving and I didn't want to get trapped behind some heavy equipment blocking my exit, so I left. Not what I hoped for, was hoping to spend a couple days digging here...I headed East.

Why is it taking 5+ years to fix the dam?

I don't know the particulars of this lake......my guess, short answer, Money & PoliticsSweeperman wrote:Why is it taking 5+ years to fix the dam?
The lake canhawk and I have been hitting, Lake Delhi in Iowa has been drained since 2010 and still isn't a lake just yet.
If you really want to know,.. I would suggest you google Glade Run Lake, Pennsylvania and I'm sure you will find 5+ years of story's and discussions on repairing this dam.
