Look What Turned Up in Maine - Part #2

#1

Post by DaveNH »

This past Saturday I had to go check on our ski chalet up in Maine after having renters there all winter to make sure all was ok. After a thorough check I determined all was fine so what should I do for the balance of the afternoon considering the temp was hovering around 45 and theres on snow on the ground. Hmm, after pondering it for a second or two I decided to go looking for a dump. I did't have any digging gear so I had to use what we had in our shed. Considering ski mountain started around 1950, I wasn't expecting to find any cans with age near the mountain, but decided to hit a spot nearby. Literally, 30 seconds after jumping out of the car and hitting the woods I found a dump. At first, I saw lots of metal buckets and small double punch flats (which turned out to be Schilitz)-->ugg. But as I ventured further around the parameter, I started seeing big punched cans, quarts and crowntainers. Not lots of them, but enough to spark my interest. I then found this and knew what it was immediately :smt026 :smt023 :smt026 :smt023

Not a bad find considering I wasn't planning to go dumping

Even better yet, it looks like the dent is where the can is the strongest. Post a pic when you get it straightened. Nice find!

It is in the Class Book. Super tough can, much more so than the 12oz.
