Shoot, I'd take that ABC ALE! Looks good to me!

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?

Guess I don't know how to use quoteThat's nasty stuff, guys. How do you get the wife's approval to keep these showing?
First of all they are not "Nasty" and even she (wife) does not think so. My
can room and garage are mine and whatever is in there is OK. If I keep cans I dumped or trade for I'm not ashamed of them its just a figure of speech and as a matter of fact I'm proud of them. I think Scott put it best
"its better than the one I did not have".

For most of the guys posting here, I would say it ends being a beer can when it falls off the shelf and shatters on the floor. Maybe not though, after seeing Rands IC. Modern adhesives are marvelous...

Here's mine (sorry for the blurry pic).
Bottom row- Pabst Bock, dug at Tacey Road in the Catskills with Chris Taylor about 4 years ago.Only one I've ever found. Old Ranger, found in the Finger Lakes region of NY with Kieth Johson around '98 or so. This dump also gave up a case of Dickens Dry Ales along with about a million '54 Schlitz cans. The top couple inches of the can was missing so I smashed the top of a gold Richbrau flat into the hole. Hey, at least it's the right height now. New England Ale, found in Mass with KB and Pete Sorbi about 6-7 years ago. Really roachy but a can I always dreamed of finding when I first started collecting. Genesee Liebotshaner, Conifer dump with Keith Johnson in 2000. I saw this laying in the ground and freaked out, the can looked like it was grade 1. I pulled it out and it was just smashed. It's held together with an 11oz can on the inside, about 3lbs of Seal All, and a half pound of rust dust. At least it stands up now and is actually pretty shiny.
Top Row- Wehle Colonial Ale, last year in Vermont with KB and Mike Schnare. It was a can I was hoping to dig on that trip. It was all smashed up and full of holes but I straightened it out. Lost a lot of metal in the process but it is round again. Genesee All Malt Leibotshaner, my all time most wanted can given to me by our rusty editor Kevin Dooley. This was the infamous "Pancake" can they found about 10 years ago. This thing was completely flat when I got it but I managed to straighten it out. Everyone said it couldn't be done but I really, really, really wanted one for the shelf so I did it with the aid of an 11oz Budweiser can, 5lbs of Seal All, and 10 pounds of rust dust. Isn't the prettiest thing ever but it's still more than I ever thought I'd have. Hopfheiser, traded a Golden Rod to the Twins for this beauty at the Syracuse convention. From Candog's famous find.

These cans have 2 personalities, the display side...
And the do not display side...
These cans are shelvers until a more substantial one comes along.
***Note to Rustmonger, as you can see my shelves run from shiny to holy.

being my collection has been known as the wall of shame for three years now i think i might be entitled to some kind of royalties. here are some of mine that cannot stand on their own.
the topless dubois, the crunched genny liebo, the lo pro bent bev and similar fort schuyler ale, and a pikes peak malt lager from last fall in va.
and these are the end of my quart shelfers, 2 different yuenglings, briedts, esslinger and a prima beer.
and finally my cleanest find the doelger beer sandwiched between a pretty rough ale and red beer.

I have had the great privilege of dumping with 68 current and former Rusty Bunch members, to date. Got to hit the woods of Virginia with Charlie Smigo recently.

It is fun. Especially if you're lucky enough to dig/find some insanely rare can, regardless of condition. To know you got something from a specific time (a 6 month run of a can in 1936) is like an archaeologist finding scrolls.

I didn't really buy the Viking repo for $76.00. I was trying to see what reaction I could get, but no one bit.
Anyway, I found it ironic that the seller of the repo who stealing other ebayer pictures to make the repro cans has his pictures protected. When you right click on the photo it says 'Images protected by Auctiva. Sign up at http://www.auctiva.com to protect your images'. Give it a try with the link below.
