Auto Flea market give away
Over the weekend Shelley and I attended the large annual auto flea market for the first time in several years. I've never had much luck in obtaining cans at this event. After a few rows I came upon a booth that had this box of cans sitting under a table.
I have no idea on the US cans, here's the Aluminum, and the Crimped steel, the straight steel, a few that I don't recall seeing in totes over the years but then again I most likely just scanned past them. A couple slim cans, I don't recall seeing a bottom like on the Rolling Rock before, and the Pabst is steel. There also was a US soda (Cherikee Red) which Shelley added to her accumulation, I upgraded my Primo and added the Royal Dutch to my foreign group.
Anything of interest?

I took a quick look at the top levels and thought nope, not interested in investing, so I stood up and started on to the next booth. the guy asked me if I was interested in cans, I said I have a collection but these aren't in my collecting realm, he said they are FREE! I hesitated for a second and I thanked him, picked up the box and headed to the truck. When I got them home I gave them a bath and sorted,

Re: Auto Flea market give away
We set up at a flea market last weekend. I took a load of my unwanted cans and sold a surprising lot of them. I was letting them go for cheap and or giving them away to people who had no idea what they were looking at. There's always the chance to bring another sheep into the hobby fold.
My favourite though was a really nice lady that asked, "Do you have any foreign cans?" I told her I had some and asked what she was looking for. She answered with, "I grew up in Hawaii and am always looking for Primo cans but can't ever seem to find any I can afford."
After a good internal laugh, I was about to explain it to her, but decided to just let it rest and keep my fond memories of the encounter as is. I ended up selling the Primo you have pictured along with the same print in gold and blue. She was so thrilled to get the pair for a dollar, she told me that I made her Summer.

The Avenue has a background that is similar to the Manhatten - or even the Black Dallas. Great looking can. I think the Rolling Rock has the rocket bottom, which is kinda unique. Good score, especially for the price.

I agree, The Avenue can is a sharp looking can, It's air filled and is one that I didn't recognize along with the Pickett's....When you say the rocket bottom is unique, unique to Rolling Rock? .... is it one of the earlier types of aluminum cans. I wondered how they still fit 12oz's in the can with such a concave bottom.

Exactly! If you can help grow the hobby, it's worth it.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

Re: Auto Flea market give away
The rocket bottom aluminum is not unique to RR, in fact the only one I ever had with that type bottom was an Olde English 800, which you also have in your collection. I think it just had to do with who was pressing the cans for the brewery.Tinman wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 9:34 amI agree, The Avenue can is a sharp looking can, It's air filled and is one that I didn't recognize along with the Pickett's....When you say the rocket bottom is unique, unique to Rolling Rock? .... is it one of the earlier types of aluminum cans. It looks like the Pabst Extra Light is a drawn steel can, at least from the bottom view. All the ones I've seen have the same stamping for the bottom but I defer to the guys here that know more about this era of collecting.
