Keith beat me to the post,

As of this morning the auction platform is back up and operational. The prebidding portion of the originally scheduled 12/20 auction has now resumed. Pre-bidding will end @ 10:58 AM EST on 1/3/21. The auction will then go live at 11:00 AM EST on 1/3/21.

At this time, the hack is thought to have been strictly a ransomware attack. The 3rd party security team has found no evidence of a security breach that would have compromised any personal information. Further security analysis will continue.

Although, there have been no security breaches found to date, out of an abundance of caution, we would recommend that everyone change their password. It can't hurt to be proactive.

Yeah, it’s frustrating for all involved. Also, with most of the shows shutdown, next to no sales on classic beer can sites, and fakes all over eBay these auctions are becoming increasingly popular.

I know it’s the auction company and not the beer can sites themselves but it’s getting harder and harder for me to believe that my information is safe.

Yes, They are. Below is the e-mail that we received yesterday. We have received subsequent update e-mails. As of last e-mail they anticipate everything will be back up this afternoon.

01/17/2021 SimpleAuctionSite Update: Sites Are Currently Down
Valued Simple Auction Site Customer,

There was another attack on our servers last night, but fortunately, we were able to prevent the attackers from gaining control to the server data.

However, we must keep sites down today in order to prevent any further attacks onto the server while we work to implement security patches. These measures are being taken in order to also prevent any data loss to our sites since the breach attempt last night did not cause any data loss to occur.

We are aiming to have sites back up near the end of the day today. If you have any questions, please contact us.

I can't wait for can shows to come back... at least there you don't have to pay the 20% buyer's premium! :smt009 What a ripoff!

Also at shows, you can also negotiate a better deal. I miss all my beer can friends I see at shows...

The latest e-mail from the auction platform from this morning.
Revised Email Contacts
01/19/2021 10:00a SimpleAuctionSite Update: Adding Additional Security Measures
Valued Simple Auction Site Customer,
Revised: The email addresses listed below have been updated to reflect functional email accounts. If you have attempted to reach us with no response, please reach out again please.
We are in the process of implementing additional layers of security to the servers so that we can further minimize any repeat incident. As a result, the restoration will need to be continued into today, and we are aiming to have the sites back up by the end of the day today.
Hearing news of having to wait even longer is not news we wish to give, but this extra day will be well worth the trade off of enhanced security protocols. We want to make sure that the server data is as secure and un-breachable as possible.
We would like to apologize for the changes in the timeline to get the server restored and back online; there are many working parts involved in the restoration that have made the timeframe to resolution tricky to pinpoint. However, we are nearing the end of the restoration, and will have the sites back online as quickly as possible. We are truly thankful to have such wonderful and patient customers!
If there is a delay in the restoration process, we will provide an update with the change in timeline, and will also provide an update once the restore is completed. Thank you all for your patience.
If you have any questions, please contact us.

Here is a post from SAS Managing Partner Bob Freedman that was posted this afternoon to a baseball card forum I belong to where he is also a member:
Board members, we were hacked once again however after the first hack, SpearTip was hired and prevented a second attempted attack Sunday Morning. A decision was made to take the servers offline and do a through check to determine how they were able to penetrate our servers (although no encryption nor data loss occurred). We have estimated that there was a Trojan Horse installed on the first hack. We decided to take everything offline and rebuild our environment and harden the security even more.

The decision was also made to install redundant security measures to prevent future attacks. This is why the servers of all our clients utilizing our software have been down. These additional layers of security have now been implemented, the servers are being tested and should be ready to be back online tonight.

We have gone through great expense to prevent the this again and we are being very proactive in hiring additional staff and hiring SpearTip on a full time basis. This has been a very trying time as you can imagine and I appreciate our customers loyalty and hope that we can once again provide you the level service you are accustomed too. Thank you

Also, from the first hack, a complete forensic analysis was done and determined that no data loss occurred

As of 3:00 am this morning the auction site platform is back up and running. Fingers crossed that this never happens again. Very frustrating for all.
